Hey, I been looking for a projector how some time now im new to the projector world but i been doing some reading and so on but im only 15 so i dont have that much to spend. I have a 13x22 basement but its split in half like 13x10 and 13x12 is finished and i wired it last week it has the speakers and everything already setup, I picked a screen size of 82x46, I came across 3 projectors

InFocus Play Big IN72 ($1,024.99 w/ $300 rebate = $724.99)
Viewsonic Cine1000 ($900.00)
Hitachi PJ-TX100 ($1199.99)

Now i read reviews for all of them and come to fine out the first 2 aint even HD and they can take 720p/1080i and 1080p but it looks bad says the reviewers so i took a look around and found the PJ-TX100 read the reviews and they said its really good and its HD 720p but its also $1,200 what I do not have at this time does anyone know of a projector just like the PJ-TX100 can do everything that can do and has all the same hook ups for cheaper? I will be using it for HD/SD Cable, Xbox360, HDDVD and SDDVD

Thanks alot, Tom

Hi Tom,
As you've found, finding a DLP 720p resolution HD projector for under $1000 is not going to be easy.
This means you are either confined to LCD or you buy secondhand. Buying secondhand doesn't have to be second best if you are carefull. Look for ones under a year old, preferably with some warranty left and under 500 hours on the bulb. This way, you'll still have some level of insurance should it develop a fault and it should still be in 'as new' condition cosmetically.
Look at the Infocus Screenplay 7205 DLP (720p) and the BenQ PE7700 DLP (720p). Both highly respected HD DLP models now selling for low money.
LCD gives you more options. See: Panasonic AE500/700, Sanyo Z2/3 and Infocus SP5000 to name just a couple.
A quick search shows these on ebay:
Sanyo Z2 - http://cgi.ebay.com/Sanyo-PLV-Z2-HD...ryZ94918QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
Sanyo Z3 - http://cgi.ebay.com/Brand-NEW-Sanyo...ryZ94918QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
Infocus SP5000 - http://cgi.ebay.com/InFocus-ScreenP...4QQihZ007QQcategoryZ75417QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
BenQ PE7700 - http://cgi.ebay.com/BenQ-PE7700-HD-...ryZ75407QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

Happy hunting!!

Wizard, I think Tom is in the States so UK sites may not be of much use to him.
Is that correct Tom?
