I seem to have had an almost permanent cold (runny nose and sneezing) since I had covid march 2020. Prior to that I had less than five episodes of a cold in over 20 years.
Haven't had a cold sore for 20 years, but got one recently. Zovirax blitzed it.
I find Islay malt whisky (preferably cask strength) does an even better job applied neat to the affected area. Given the cost and limited shelf life of Zovirax, it's also appreciably cheaper :smashin:

I'll get some for the medicine cabinet :D

Why, is it ill?

Definitely can't say IG doesn't look out for others :)

As a supermarket owner we have continued to be on the front line right from the very beginning of this. I took it on myself along with my brother and our managers to man the doors and limit entry at the start of the pandemic. We knew this was putting us at greater risk but didn’t feel right making staff do this.

Anyway roll forward to May’20 and I caught the virus without knowing it, only got a headache for about 4 days but as I did suffer them regularly I never thought anything of it but within the week the son and wife showed symptoms with the son taking it quite bad though not needing hospitalisation. As soon as it was confirmed we all isolated.

Son improved over the next 6 days and the wife like me didn’t get it bad at all. About 6 weeks later different effects on our bodies started to happen, in my case headaches and calf cramp which lasted for about 5-6 weeks, then over the next months up till Jan’21 at different times there was joint pain, insomnia, dizzy and the weirdest one which was like the very nerve ends on my head were so sensitive, even the slightest touch of my hair was extremely sore. None of these symptoms lasted more than 2-3 weeks at a time but one constant one was regular low oxygen levels ranging from 95 down to 89.

The son and wife and also had all of the above as well as losing the nails on both big toes which turned black and then fell off, the wife also suffered hair lose too. One thing I never suffered but has affected both of them is high heart rates despite sitting doing absolutely nothing, the other day the son who’s disabled woke and shouted on his mum to check his heart rate as he felt it was racing, it read 149bpm and this lasted for 2 hrs, this happens regularly and today the wife’s rate was at 130bpm.

The doctor get all of bloods checked out and they found the son’s iron levels had dropped like a stone, the wife had an overacting thyroid and mine showed high cholesterol which is most bizarre as in the past mine has been extremely low and I’m a regular gym goer 3 times a week and eat a healthy diet, never drink pop and only drink water.

Just a typical day’s reading for me.

I get rather uptight when I read ones dismissing the virus and the need for a vaccine, clearly they haven’t had it or had a family member with it. This virus is very real and I actually fear for the long term affects it will have especially on the younger ones.

I’m not wanting to belittle those with fear of the side effects of the vaccine because though rare (by comparison) to the virus it’s a real thing some have suffered from but we as in my family didn’t get Covid bad in fact me or the wife barely blinked an eye at it’s affects but long term the list of symptoms and continued affects from what on the face of it was a mild infection I can only imagine what those who took Covid bad are suffering with.

The side effects of the actual virus are WAY worse than the vaccine.

At least the lcc is doing something.

I contacted them on the 29th of July and as of today they still do not know when they can make time to talk to me.

I'm really struggling at the moment, a huge step backwards during the heatwave with my heart rate which had been going down shooting back up again, I'm now almost completely unable to get any sleep that provides relief or restoration, I cannot begin to explain the tiredness which goes so far beyond being tired.

I have not had the wherewithal or energy to update my sales thread, who knew taking pictures coulld be so tiring or that typing can take so much out of you.

I was doing pretty well with this post then noticed a few brain fog typos coming in so had to rest and then correct and post, nothing is meant to be this hard, almost eighteen months in, surely I should have just kept getting better?

Did you suffer a relapse after your second jab, I did and took me close on 10 weeks to get over some of my reoccurring symptoms

No the first setback was in November about six months before I had the jabs and although the second jab knocked me a little it did not make a huge difference, but the heat at the end of July and beginning of August has really buggered me up.

I suffered insomnia for quite a while with Covid and nothing cured it apart from time, for several weeks I see maybe 2-3 hours sleep per night and then around tea time I would crash for an hour.

General tiredness is something I don’t think any of us truly get over, maybe in time it will disappear but like you it’s something that in my case has persisted beyond all other symptoms.

By any chance did you suffer scalp pain for a period after getting Covid, maybe a couple of weeks at some point where your hair was really sore to touch, it’s something everyone I have spoke with who suffered Covid seems to have experienced.

An interesting French Article , worth reading with Google Translate

Recent scientific data provides solid arguments in favour of the recognition of long-term Covid in children. Dr Aurélie Morand , Pediatric infectious disease specialist at the Timone hospital (Marseille), where children have been followed for over a year, believes that it is time to educate doctors on this pathology which does not only concern adults. . Interview.

For the first time, the cerebral reality of the long form of the disease is demonstrated in children. Seven young patients suffering from persistent symptoms were explored by functional imaging (PET-scan) in the nuclear medicine department of the Timone hospital, headed by Pr Guedj. "The complaints of these children can not simply be explained by psychological and psychiatric disorders", believes the specialist who has already identified, identically, this brain damage in adult patients, and who today favors the 'hypothesis of inflammation of the brain, at the time of infection with SARS-CoV-2, to explain, in a sub-group of patients, the very long-lasting symptoms: “There is real brain damage. We cannot sum it up to something purely functional. "

Not pain per se, but it was definitely an unpleasant sensation and did thankfully go away, but I do notice how sensitive my scalp/skin are now, a real change from precovid.

The constant headache, the auditory hallucinations and the fatigue/tiredness are the major things kicking my butt, the aches and pains I'm sadly resigned to right now (All far worse since the heatwave we had).

Never had the hallucinations but the dizziness and room spinning especially when I lay down was something that thankfully have gone. The fatigue will go with time, at least it has with myself and the wife, the son unfortunately still suffers multiple symptoms but as of yet no clinics in Northern Ireland to even get him seen.

Oddly as a bad back sufferer I would regularly see a physio and a few months ago I was there and when I stripped off my top she commented on my bruises and then preceded to show me her arms and lower legs covered with bruises. Both of us had caught Covid early last year and we both got our second jab around the same time, was this our immune system reacting to the jab?

Also I've since found out that Covid people suffer micro clots that don't show up easily in scans, I have often wondered if some of the deaths associated with the vaccines are actually caused by the virus and these people have been asymptomatic without knowing.

I can also confirm that I can watch things I've already seen from start to finish, but new things where I need to conentrate for plot or pretty set pieces seem much harder to keep my focus on, very odd.

And my proud boast of remembering song lyrics took a bit of a hit yesterday when twenty one pilots - Hometown (a song I adore) completely slipped me for a few minutes yesterday

Long covid is very similar or is in fact another name for post viral fatigue syndrome which unfortunately when I was younger doctors dismissed as not existing or being in the mind. When my daughter was at school in the eighties one of her teachers was struch very badly with this and in the end ended up in a wheel chair. It was starting to be recognised and the label ME was given but a lot of the medical profession were very sceptical.
The above article outlines this and is in my opinion an interesting read.
I am sorry for anyone who have bad long lasting symptoms but at least it is being recognised at last.

It's a pity it still gets downplayed, mostly it seems by those who foolishly deem themselves invincible.

This is excellent.

It is so weird, both myself and the wife have started to suffer the dizzy almost out of body feeling for about 3 days, OK out of body is a bit much but it's as if your head isn't quite yours and you feel a bit detached.

Has anyone else ever experienced this???

That was amazing and sad to read but my god does it make me feel a little better that being ignored is still a global thing, it depersonalises it a little bit thanks for posting it.

Sorry to hear and yes this also seems to be pretty well trodden pathways with long covid, and out of body is as good a term as I've heard yet for it.
