    hi all

just trying to find out which of these cables would be best to use, the cable lengh will be about 10m, so is it best to use long component cable to dvd and short coax for audio or vice a versa.

the PJ will be at rear of room but dvd player can be at front or back.

    any advice?

I dont think it is going to be much of a problem. Or to look at it another way, you will loose 3 times as much (relatively speaking) by using a long component

The price of my 1.5m coax was the same price of 3 van damme 10m component leads.

    Price isnt a factor.

Surely a long coax using a digital signal will be more succeptable to interference, and if the signal is lost there is no sound (ie all or nothing). Where as analogue componant will still give a picture even if some degradation or intereference takes place.

Ok..... well i would have tended to use prety much same cable for digital and component leads hence my comment.

With the digital, any small errors can be corrected for, analogue, what you get is what you get if you follow (no error correction). Digital will be less prone to problems as well since you are only talking about 2 discrete values, a wee bit of noise will still give the same digital value. With analogue, this is not the case.

Totally agree with Buns. You could use a 100m of something like RG59 75Ohm co-ax and still not make the slightest difference in sound quality on the digital link.
