Cool new smileys I've just got to use I promised a few people I would write a review of my Brightview... I can start by saying I originally fed my Z1 with an interlaced signal via s-video while I waited for the Brightview and cables to arrive. I noticed jaggies all over the place and the picture didn't seem that smooth. I would not recommend using s-video. I found it very hard comparing a direct component feed from dvd player with a signal from the Brightview. I found I was giving myself headaches and eye strain staring at the screen and not really enjoying the films I was watching Another thread pointed me to the site below. This brilliantly explains 3-2 pull down, prog scan, Croma bug etc very clearly. I also found some very factual reviews of prog scan dvd players and external deinterlacers. Looking at the results it looks like the Iscan Ultra is the best external deinterlacer in the review. The Brightview is pretty good but does have a couple of problems...it's not correcting some signal faults passed to it ! Also worth bearing in mind is that it is less than half the price of the ultra. I just clicked on "get results". The exernal deinterlacers are at the bottom. http://www.hometheaterhifi.com/cgi-bin/shootout.cgi Here's the page with the great explanations. Has some cool pictorial examples.. http://www.hometheaterhifi.com/volume_7_4/dvd-benchmark-part-5-progressive-10-2000.html I realise it's a bit of a cop out but they have explained everything so clearly and scientifically I really don't think I can add anything of value ! Jus.
