Lone Wolf And Cub Box Set £17.99

Just received my box set of this series from here http://www.play.com/play247.asp?pa=srmr&page=title&r=R2&title=186341

It has all the films in the series which is a bargain for £17.99. I have watched the first dvd and the picture quality isn't anything special but what you'd expect for a film of this age. It's got good subs and is in wide screen (not sure if it's the original aspect ratio though).

Some good sword slashing fun and the actings not too shabby either imo.

Out of interest did this box set arrive in a jiffy bag or was it well packaged in a box?...PJ

It came in a jiffy bag but was in tact and had no damage when I received it . The box the discs come in is very flimsy though and should really be a bit more stirdy imo.

Glad to hear it arrived OK for you but Play just don't seem to learn. Perhaps they send so much stuff out that the cheap price of jiffy bags outweighs the cost of replacements, but I reckon they aren't factoring in the potential custom they are losing (like my own) because people won't trust to luck with box sets...PJ

Nope, the R1 discs are anamorphic widescreen, or at least the AnimEigo releases are.

I sold my reigon 2's for the reigon one's mentioned, much better transfer as well, film notes about Japan at the time the film was set, still, not a bad bargain.

The R1 dvds are far better quality (Fully remastered from the original Negs etc etc.)than the R2 dvds (which are LD transfers)

Stay well away from this set theres a reason why its so cheap.
