2012 .... thoughts....
I had doubts, but now we have won it, I and I hope everyone gets behind this !!
Great result and I hope Mr Chirac doesn't take it too bad....
Excuse my ignorance.... but....
What are the benefits for the UK ?
Surely it's just a big sporting event ?
yeah, but we beat the french...
don't suppose anyone knows a suitable french forum I can use..?? - I'd love to log on and give them some grief...!
Agreed, I would have settled for fourth place - if the French came fifth
I guess it's not too bad. If my plans come together, I won't be living in the UK by then anyway...
I had reservations also, but I think we should now get behind this and make it a good one. I only hope that it also serves to make public transport in this country better and bring it up to 3rd World standards
and what happens at big sporting events, LOTS AND LOTS OF PEOPLE GO TO WATCH THEM, and as this is the biggest sporting event in the world that will be a blooming lot of people spending a blooming lot of money
I think our mayor Mr Ken is hoping all the people coming to see it come by car and make use of the congestion charge! Either that or public transport.
7 years time.......I better start planning to emmigrate then.......
We get to lose in front of all the world on our own manor, and have to pay for it. How cool is that
Thens there's the jobs that won't go to the local community, but the costs that our
It's also something that can be spun into a victory for Blair
Still at least we've ****** off the French.
and not only that the legacy will be vastly improved sporting facilities for our youngsters that we so badly lack at present....
Im happy we stuffed it up the Frogs but i dont really have any interest in the drugfest that is the Olympics
London for the 2012 Olympics! What a joke! Another crap idea from a crap PM who's track-record to date is... well... crap, really!
Maybe they can use the Millennium Dome as a sports equipment storage facility?!
If Chirac phones Blair to say thanks then the Sun will run the headline:
Crazy Frog rings Tone
I wonder what they'll do about pistol shooting events, as they're banned over here.
It'll be interesting to see if they show any shooting at all: it's normally left untelevised over here, unless it looks like we'll get a medal out of it.
They are being hosted at the Royal Artillery Barrcks in Woolwich. So it should be safe.
Well, that's settled it. End of 2011 I retire. No way I want to have to commute into London during that chaos.
I like the way the lottery will pay for some of it and "a special tax" for londoners, i hope i get a special discount on tickets.
Dont get me wrong i think its great we have got the event
Why dont they just have it in Woolwich High St, be like a normal day.
Will anyone be allowed to go and watch? Where are the clay pigeon competitions being held?
I think all the shooting events are being held there, so tickets will be available.
And the first jpg gag...
Mmm I feel rather sorry for the French after all the effort they put in .Maybe we should've shared the event with them
I'm Scottish so I was backing the French anyway.
Take your pick!
