London travel / visiting advice

Must admit rarely drive eastern half of M25 (live to west side of London) and whenever we do, seem to get snarled up, hence my inclination to avoid it!

It's actually quite a bit improved now - four lanes each way for a good chunk North of Dartford.

if you are going to be driving through the blackwall tunnel (option1) before 3-4 pm then take that one, its free unlike the bridge and you get to see all the olympic stadium and buildings close up. but tune into capital fm or LBC once you get within range for traffic updates,

Took about 3 hrs to Dartford crossing, set off a bit later than planned at 10.30, stopped at Thurrock services and now about to set off on the last leg to Sydenham which hopefully won't take much more than an hour...

Well we're at the hotel, left my Nanas at about 5.30pm and drove straight through London and got to the hotel at about 19.15, it was busy but it wasn't that bad really :) Off for tea now, thanks for all the advice folks, think we made the right decisions in the end
