very tempted with one of these, is there much improvement over the driving force pro what i have got ??, also just seen on gt forums website and various others that the g28 could be coming out at same time as gt5
Just bought a G25 and is a better quality wheel in every respect to the DFP which itself was a good bit of kit.
£99.99 at play using code GRID25
Play.com (UK) : Logitech G25 Racing Wheel : Computing - Free Delivery
hmmm that sound a good deal for a g25, now just to decide if to wait for the g27 or not
Instead of creating a new thread I though would just add to this one & seek some opinions of people who use wheels & the G25 in particular.
I had a friend round this eve and were playing FC using the G25 on a newly acquired playseat & wheel. Now when using a pad I had used the shoulder button and was used to the concept of braking and accelerating at the same time. However, since getting the wheel I have driven as I would a normal car, suing the right foot to either brake or accelerate.
Just wondering, you guys using a wheel & pedals, do you brake and accelerate with one foot or two? If so when using a clutch do you then swap to one foot? Just curious as I think my lap times may be effect as am using one foot.
Out of curiosity I would also like to know in real life racing is one foot used or two?
I use two feet for racing, pretty much always heading in the opposite direction if that makes any sense (e.g. as brake goes down, gas comes up).
Mainly been playing Ferrari challenge but it seems to swing the weight of the car around better and produce more grip into turns driving that way.
My assesment is it's not only phisically quicker but more importantly a quicker and smoother transition of weight / downforce and momentum as any time where you are off the gas and going on to the peddle (with one foot driving) the car is effectively freewheeling which means that when you then do apply the brake or gas your change of momentum is more extreem, is being applied later than you want it and you can loose grip easier.
I see it a bit like a rugby player trying to jink his way upfield to score. He wants to run straight (the quickest path allowing him to accelerate to full speed) but is also forced to go left and right to get there. He has to swing his centre of gravity from left to right to jink but really wants to keep as much momentum as he can directed in the final direction he wants to travel in.
I'm pretty sure racing drivers all left foot brake also.
Was watching the Monaco Grand Prix the other week and Martin Brundle said that a formula 1 car can change gear 50 times faster than the human eye can blink !
Can't see how it's possible tbh but he definately said it??
sorry but where do I put that code in on the Play.com website??? I cant find it.
you enter the codes at the checkout screen, should be a button on the left hand side that says you have a promo voucher of something.
anyways that code no longer works, LOGITECH80 will allow you to get it for £119.99 though, that code expires 10/8/09
can't find it
go to checkout
on the next page there will be a box on the right hand side labelled 'voucher', click on the orange button that says 'I have a promotional or discount voucher'.
Play are doing the G25 for £99.99, only until the 31/08/09

Logitech G25 Racing Wheel - Misco.co.uk
Has anyone used Misco and have a review at all?
I've ordered monitors etc from misco before and never had a problem, although that also means I have never had to deal with their customer services etc so I can't say what they are like if you have a problem
Yep, I've used Misco several times and from my experience I would certainly recommend them. Most online price search engines have a shop review, may be worth checking there if you are still uncertain. However, I'd sooner purchase from Misco than PLAY.com from past experience.
EDIT : I've also asked them to see if they are able to do any discount on price and they've been able to accomodate, however I doubt you'd get anything more off that G25 price as they were selling the G25's for £125 just a few days ago.
Thanks for that, I always like to check someone has delt with them before, i believe you can never trust the ratings sites.
Hmmm looks like i need to speak to the mrs and see if i can find the cash then,
It looks like Play don't even have enough stock to forfil their orders.. My order was accepted on Saturday PM, but people who ordered on Friday have called Play and been told that they don't have stock.
So I have cancelled my Play order and gone for Misco instead!! With 'Quidco' the price comes in at around £1 more than Play, so its not the end of the world.
I see what you mean - I ordered on Friday but my order status at Play is 'Order Taken'. Other orders I made later on Sunday have been packed and shipped.
They'd better come good on this one, I have ordered the Wheelstand Pro in anticipation of getting the wheel, which cost £99 for the G25 version. Will be peeved if Play now turn around and say they can't fulfil the order for the G25.
I guess they have been taken by surprise at the demand.
Mine too is sat at "Order Taken".. It doesn't make sense.. Surely they would only have enough 'stock' on their website to match what was physically available.
Once that number had been ordered, then the item should go 'out of stock'.. Its criminal that they allowed people to keep buying them over the weekend when they don't appear to have stock.
Luckily I spotted this mistake in time and ordered from Misco whilst they had stock... And with £3.90 back from Quidco, its only cost me £2-£3 more than Play.. And, Misco have already sent a 'you order has been dispatched' mail so its on the way.
Looks like I had batter cancel my order with Play.. Or I might just leave it there to see what happens.
Well, I've cancelled and will order elsewhere at a bit more cost. I'd rather have the wheel from somewhere that is honest about the stock, and can deliver quickly, than a 'maybe'.
I ordered mine Friday morning and received an email saying its been dispatched today, so fingers crossed i'll get it this week
Its a disgrace that Play let people order knowing full well that they didnt have enough stock. When they done this offer a couple of months back the stock went rapidly too so its not like they didnt know it was going to happen
Mine arrived today (and hopefully the WSP will as well) so I'm looking forward to tonight.
I paid £35 more (overclockers) for a reliable, no-nonsense service - they've always been excellent for me - after play.com screwed up, and I'll stick to just using play.com for cheap games on occasion.
Now I just have to find a way to get the relatives off playtv
Yep Play.com shafted me also. Rang them today and they said they're awaiting stock. I can leave my order open, but there not expecting stock for at least 28 days.
