Logik LCD TVs at Dixons - strange ratio

Saw the Logik LCD TVs in Dixons the other day.

Is it me or is the panel's ratio taller than it is wide. Maybe it's an optical illusion but the panel looks 4:3, but vertical.

Or is it just me?!

Sure it wasn't an LCD monitor with a portrait tilting screen function?

Not sure my local Dixon's has Logik screens, unless they're a very new line...

Uh, nothing wrong with them. They are 4:3 screens. 15" and 17". They look taller because the lower surround is so thick containing the speaker.

Here's a pic of the 17" one.

It could be just an optical illusion plus I think the shop was showing something in th wrong ratio making everyone talland thin, but it's worth taking a look at next time anyone's in Dixons.

It's funny how just the casing can trick your eye.

Yep, it's an optical illusion. Open the above pic in an image program (like PSP) and then cut out the screen image. You will see it is approx 120 pixels wide by 90 pixels high which is exactly 4:3 ratio.

I totally agree, funny how the eyes can play tricks. Below is the original image and the extracted screen image. Shows you what I mean.
