When switching on my Xelos 32" from cold I get a ping type noise that seems to be coming from the Tube itself. The noise is intermittent but always happends about two/three times turning on from cold over the first hour or so. After about an hour the ping noise goes away. I've placed a call in for an engineer to attend. Anyone had/heared this problem before ?

    Regards.

I think I have the same thing on my Sony, does it sound like a high tension wire being plucked?

Don't get it as much as you though.

I also hear it several hours after I've switched off.

sorry for being so long in replying. The engineer came out twice in the end he used what looked to me like sealer around the cathode plastic casing. apparently when this heats up the plastic was expanding and touching the tube creating the noise... The noise is still there but not as noticeble. Might get them back when it annoys me a bit more.
