I have seen that Key Digital have a cheaper version of their Component to VGA transcoder.

    http://www.keydigital.com/detail.asp?Product_ID=KD-XB

The details say it is for XBox but the specs look identical to the KD-CTCA2. I have seen the XB for as little as $69.

Can anyone comment whether the XB will work with a prog scan dvd player into a Loewe VGA card. Has anyone even had any luck using the KD-CTCA2?

    Thanks

It should work fine. I think the unit you saw for $69 is likely to be a far east copy as that is under trade price.....by a fair bit......

The bigger unit has some other features and an extra output

    Thanks Gordon.

I have found a comparison matrix between the Xblaster and the KD-CTCA2 -->

Are the differences of any importance to me for hooking up a pal prog dvd player to Loewe VGA card?
Is the XBlaster likely to be of inferior signal quality?
BTW the prices of this unit variy wildly across the net. They all claim to be official KD units. I have also seen obvious clones but they don't claim to be made by KD.

    Ta.

The best bet is probably going to be buying from an on-line wharehouse in USA. The costs to me are huge unless I buy tons and demand is so small it's not feasable. Shipping costs from USA will be low so it's your best bet.

The useful feature of CTCA2 is the horizontal centreing. I cannot remember if the VGA port software allows you to centre image. I think it does in which case the XBLaster should be fine.
