I know that Loewe Aconda can have a VGA board fitted which will take upto a 640x480 RGBHV signal. I have heard it will also take NTSC pro-scan and PAL pro-scan through a software upgrade>

Anyone got any info on this?

    Cheers

    Rick,

I asked Loewe this question a few months ago and the response was that it couldn't be done with the current chassis, but they were looking to implement progessive scan in future models. Of cause they may have decided to relook at this.

Loewe TVs already display a progressive image for NTSC using an internal deinterlacer. This is turned on/off by byte 5 bit 3 of the option bytes. PAL is 100hz interlaced. However they don't take external progressive input through the normal AV inputs (excluding the VGA module). I also heard that the latest software for the Aconda would deinterlace PAL internally as well as NTSC (bit 2 I think). So you are probably already watching NTSC Proscan from your standard DVD player using the internal deinterlacer.

BTW I have confirmed this with Loewe as most dealers haven't a clue !

    Confused (I am)
