I have a Loewe Mimo with a VGA upgrade, the only reason I have the VGA upgrade is due to the fact that I needed an IR Link for my Toshiba DVD player, when I got the IR link I was also automatically given the VGA upgrade. Anyway my understanding is that the VGA upgrade allows you to use the TV set as a computer monitor, I have no intention of doing this and so the VGA card is redundant on my TV, can the VGA upgrade be utilised to benefit the performance of the television set without connecting a computer or will it always remain redundant unless a computer is connected?

As I understand it, yes you need to use a computer
