    Hi all

I recently purchased a Loewe 9381 ZW. It looked great in the show room but I am now discovering problems.

    The first problem is:
When I watch a programme on TV if there are quick scene changes I get vertical lines appearing on the screen for a split second. This also happens while watching a DVD e.g. ‘Dinosaurs’. When the meteors are crashing all around with a lot of explosions, the vertical lines appear quiet a lot. This is starting to get annoying and embarrassing as I spent £2,500 IR on this set and I expected a little more from it.

    The second problem is:
The picture is a little dark. When I up the brightness I can see, what I call residue from the last scene still on the screen. This is also starting to annoy me.

    My question is:
Are all the above problems a fault with my set or is this just the way this set is?
Should I return the set to where I bought it and ask for my money back?

I have been emailing Loewe again and again and I have received no response. Looks like they don’t care! What do you all think?

    Thanks in advance

    Will

    Hi.
Sorry to hear about the problems.
I use my Aconda for watching Dvds so I can
not comment on the scene changes.
I will borrow a copy of Dinosaur R1 in the
next few days and take a look,to see what mine does.
As for Loewe not helping try this number, the guy was really helpfull when I called.

    Hi Will,
I also live in Ireland. I am looking at buying a Loewe 9381 ZW myself at the moment. I would be interested where you bought your set for £2500. I am in Dublin and have only seen it for approx £2,700 so far.

Lo guys, has anyone considered the new Aconda 9581? I saw it on the loewe.de site and it looks the biz. The only real dif from the 9381 appears to be "Full digitized signal processing 8 bits" so hopes of even stronger Sky/dvd viewing!? The word digitized does send bit (!) of a shiver these days when in conjunction with tv's processing properties though...
And as Matt pointed out no black chassis.

    It's on empiredirect.co.uk for £1850 inc del
but a further £312 for glass stand. The T1 stand is even more - too painful to type!
I want to see one of these bad boys in action but resellers seem thin on the ground.
I've only found 2 sites selling them and empire is cheapest of them.
Gerry, I had three Panasonic 36pg50's and know why you weren't impressed! So many 'faults'.

    Hi Gerry

I bought it in Brown Thomas in Limerick for £2,450 although I didnt get a stand. The stand was a further £500. A little steep if you ask me.

Cheers Will, thanks for the info. Lyric Hi-Fi in Duke Street in Dublin in were quoting me £2790.00 so it would appear you got a good deal. The stand was also an extra £500.00, way over the top although it is a nice looking piece of furniture. They also had another stand that had a built in sub-woofer but that was £1000.00.

    WOW!!!!

Thanks a million Gary. Your changes have made the world of difference. I was getting a little worried by your settings when I read them first as my contrast was turned up to 58. When I adjusted it to your settings I could hardly see a thing on the screen, then I changed it to normal viewing mode as you stated and as if by magic the picture was perfect.

    A big thanks again!!!
    Will :) :D

It might be worth your while to head down the country. Limerick is an hour from Thurles and I am about 1.5 hours from Dublin so it is not really a long journey if you could save nearly £350.

Yes Will that's a good idea. Although I am going to check with BT in Dublin in the morning first. I know they have the Vitros but its £2500 and usually the Vitros is a couple of hundred cheaper than the Aconda. However if I have to go to Limerick I will, no problem.
    Cheers.

    Hi Gary

Actually it's gone back to the way it was. The contrast always goes back to 50 when I turn back on the tv or move from normal viewing to day. Why is this do you think? It is unwatchable at the contrast setting you gave me. When I entered the settings and then turned to normal viewing the contrast goes back to 50 and vice versa.

I only noticed this after I wrote the last message. So I am :(

Actually I feel stupid for writing the last message as the the tv reverted to the way it always was and I didnt notice till tonight.

If you could give me the mobile number of the engineers I would be greatful. By the way are they in the UK or Ireland. If there in the UK they will more than likely be no good to me.

    Will

    Hi.
Sorry to hear the problems persist.
Hear is the mobile no of one of the
    service guys 077994 70793.
So am I right in thinking once you
turn off the Tv you lose your settings?
This is not a problem you can save your
    settings.
Shall I have a look to see how to save
them?I can not remember off the top of my head.
    All the best
    Gary
