Bit of a technical query, I haven't seen it discussed elsewhere but I'll give it a shot here!

    I'd like to use my PC as a CD transport, providing a digital stream to my Tag processor. I've actually got this working, but it the processor reports a 48kHz clock. This is going to cause some pretty horrible upsampling - so does anyone know of a way of locking it to 44.1kHz?

    Wow, I see you're from Basingstoke too

    I think I'll go out and buy one of these cards then. CD's don't sound so great at the moment! Which is the best one in your opinion? Do you know where I can get one for a good price?

    Best place to buy is here;

    I have the Terratec, I chose it over the Audiophile because in the UK it's the cheaper of the 2 and because its toslink rather than coax. Sound wise they should be about the same.

    Most sound cards can't do 44.1Hz, only high-end cards such as the Terratec EWX 24/96 or the M-Audio audiophile can send unaltered 44.1Hz sound to a amp/receiver.

    Sound-on-sound has a very good side-by-side review of M AUDIO AUDIOPHILE 2496 MAC/PC SOUNDCARD AND TERRATEC EWX 24/96 PC SOUNDCARD.
