I have a wi-fi router connected by usb to my computer, and when i leave it for a long period of time it seems to lose connection and the local network light goes out. The broadband link is still there. Does anyone know why this is?

Take a look at the power saving settings, maybe somethings going into standby?

There will be a "not used for" timer in the router which drops everything if it's not used for a certain length of time, just go into the router and set this for as high a time as you can.
