I really don't think that fully crossed the line, but hey cant change the decision now.

Just hope that isnt the only goal scored, I've got one very stroppy looking Chelsea supporter friend sitting in my lounge! :rotfl: :rotfl: Still.. 1 goal to chelsea.. and the reds have got more work to do.

Trouble is ITV just don't have the angles that Sky do. However it should have been a pen and the keeper off in my view.

Chelsea look like a team that's been at the 'champers'. Sloppy mistakes, poor passing, hilarious! :D If Liverpool don't win, it'll be Red faces never mind Red noses! ;)

Some things never change eh. Clear penalty against Liverpool not given. Still, they deserved to win. Chelsea offered not a lot, and Liverpool defended well in depth. They'll have to offer more to beat Milan though............ But, as 'koppite' said, no-one gave them much hope of getting there (with good reason) in the first place. Therefore it must be an excellent result.

Oh and you us lot one as well! If they'd won it the weekend before last they might have been a different prospect. :D

*waits for Bau.. er, Koppites retort* :D

I hate the thought of Chelsea buying trophies so I'm more than pleased that Liverpool got through. In 3 weeks I expect them to improve a lot. Players will be strong for the final now that they can't get 4th in the league. Having said that Milan will be big favourites. With Alonso, Cisse, Gerrard, Baros, Carragher, Hyypia and Garcia on top form though they could win it

Sorry this just confuses me. Why is it ok for Man Utd, Arsenal, and Liverpool to throw money around and not Chelsea? Is this some kind of cloth cap "only our betters are allowed to spend a kings ransom to win things" idea?

Frankly, neither side do anything for me. But, the best team won on the night, so that's, that. :)

All teams except Chelsea have budgets which they have earnt through past success. All Chelsea have is an unlimited source of funds. Without Abramovitch they would have a very good team, albeit still behind Arsenal and MAn U in all probability. Chelsea have bought their success this season. :lesson:

    Yes!, were there at last.

Ok, we were not great, we HAD to defend, but for rafa's first season, this is amazing. And he know what has to be done in the summer regarding our attacking options. We missed Alonso tonight, as some of the passing was woeful. But he will be in the final and the players did it for him. Our defending a times was amazing and carra was superb. A great nite for the kopites.

i think the difference, albeit small, is that Man Utd and Arsenal tend to buy more unproven, or developing players and turn them into superstars, whereas Chelsea on the whole just go out and buy current superstars for a quick fix. Even Man Utd's biggest signings in recent years like Van Nistelrooy, Ferdinand, Rooney, Cole have had to develop their skills to be good enough to play for Man Utd. Obviously i don't need to go into Arsenal's signings.. Henry, Vieira, Reyes...

Pardon? Chelsea have won four trophies in the last 8 years. Not as much as Man Utd and Arsenal, but as much as Liverpool. They have also been there or there abouts in the prem. Utd have bought, Ronaldo, Rooney, Van nostrilroy, Saha, Smith, none of whom are "unproven". Equally Liverpool have bought half of La Liga! :D Only the Arsenal, because of spending all our dough on the "emirates white elephant", have been player shy.

Didn't Houllier win three trophies within two seasons? ;)

Not being funny, and i dont mean to be a damp squib, but OTT reaction isn't an Arsenal thing............... win or lose. It comes with the shirt. :)

Chelsea have bought their success, not earned it. If they were on the stock exchange they could have made such a dramatic improvement in 1 season. Likewise if Bates was still Chairman. Arsenal are still the best footballing side. Chelsea have bought the best manager, Kezman, Drogba, Duff, Czech, Carvalho, Tiago, Huth, Cole, Robben etc in 1 season. That reeks of buying success.

Surely all teams buy their success??? It is just that Chelsea have spent shed loads in a smaller amount of time. HOw many of Arsenals players last year were home grown or Man U the year before that??

I also dont think that Chelsea have made a dramatic improvement in 1 season...after all they were quarter finalists and did bloody well in the league last year. They made a few key buys (along with a load of wasted money) and an excellent manager. With the way Man U and Arsenal have played this year I reckon that Mourinho could have taken them to the title anyway this year with last years players.

I Would like to add my congratulations to the commentary team as they managed to hold out for a full 16 minutes before the first mention of the 1966 world cup.

    Adrenochrome.

P.s I agree with Overkill wrt the Chelsea players looking like they had downed too much Champers.

Liverpool deserved to go through as Chelsea only forced Dudek into making one save over the two legs :nono:

Wait until the final. Every cliche, every tired old replay of Liverpools 'glory days' will be dragged out of the closet they've been keeping them warmed up in. By half time a lot us will be past caring that Liverpool are English and hope Milan stuff them just to shut the commentaters up!
