This may be slightly controversial but...

I'm off to uni tomorrow and apparently online gaming has been blocked/banned on the internet service they provide in halls. Is there anyway to bypass this? Going to miss my pro evo/cod/gears and soon to be Halo sessions.

Stick to studying, gaming will only distract you., I imagine they have certain ports blocked...

If it is anything like edinburgh uni then all ports used for gaming are blocked and only way to get them opened up is to ask computing services nicely.

Not a problem for me as it's one of the advantages of staying at home.

When I went into halls at uni, we had to run through a proxy which stopped all online gaming/file sharing/most IM. It didn't stop us networking tho and there was a uni gaming society with internet access to play with. It's only a year.

There are ways round, but not worth getting banned for it, just get the 1 player games and crank your gamerscore for a while and play during holidays.
