    Hi,

Having just bought a plasma screen and an IScanPro deinterlacer (plasma owners - do your plasma justice and get one ;) ), I know have the dreaded lip sync problems. It happens whether I use the IScanPro or not but may be slightly worse with it.

I know this looks like the wrong forum for this sort of question but I feel that the answer is probably one of:

    TAG AV30R (or AV32R)
    Arcam AV8 (£gulp)
    Rotel RSP-1066

Yes, an all new sound processor. Just before I go seriously overdrawn (remember no money after plasma purchase :( ) is there a simpler (read cheaper) way to add delay to my sound. Here's the big caveat - must be able to delay stereo (inc. prologic) sources as well as DD and dts?

Do all the above processors do this sort of delay for all sound sources?

    Thanks,

    Charles.

You need to put in around 80 milliseconds to sort this out. It is better to err on the long side as people are more sensitive to audio leading the video than vice versa. The Arcam AV8 does up to 200 ms for all sources, the TAG at least 50 and it may be 100 (TAG owners can answer this); can't say about the Rotel but I would guess not.

    HTH,

    John Dawson (Arcam)

    Hi,
With the latest software the Tag does 100.

Bugger - I never thought that lip sync would be a problem - just got my plasma - picture quality is fantastic but lip sync is appalling...

I too need an analogue audio and DD5.1/DTS delay solution...

Can't afford top end amps so I use a Yamaha RDS800 - I would consider changing this for another Yamaha or Denon with delay options.. . anyone any ideas??

    Hi

I've just come across the Felston DD340 digital audio delay unit - see www.felston.com. At £165 + £20 for a optical/coax convertor it seems like a reasonable solution for Sky+/plasma lip sync problems, i.e. it all happens in the digital domain.

Has anybody tried it? They quote a consumer review from these pages but I have been unable to track it down.

R22, I got a Panny 37PW and had serious lip synch problems. The solution a Yamaha DSPAX750 amp for £350. OK it was an other expense on top of the new plasmaa, but the amp was well worth the money and heaps better than my 5 year old Pioneer amp.

    :)
