Last night while watching Jamie Olivers Ministry of food for the first time i noticed lip sync issues, cant say its as bad as a HD channel but noticable all the same.

I have a Pace box.

I have a Thomson box that was installed 2 days ago. Not had a lot of time to really test it, but watching films on the HD chanell on the Monday night were fine, but SD films were teribble. Will be investigating tonight, but think its really slapdash and if it doesnt improve I will be cancelling Sky entirely

And you accept it? I shall be phoning Sky and having them send new boxs untill its sorted, and if they dont sort it, I will be cancelling the lot.

Totaly unacceptable for the picture and sound not to be synched up.

Grrrr its staing to get on my nerves now. I thought until last night it was only my HD channels but i was wrong. Only noticed it on the above mentioned SD program so far though.

Well i just had Sky HD (pace box)installed on Monday & the only time so far i have seen any lip syncing problems was when watching BBC HD preview, there was some 'live' music playing & the syncing was way out, but when some other preview came on it was ok again. that is the only time i have seen this issue so far. No problems watching Stargate Atlantis last night on Sky one HD, even through optical and in DD to my Amp(denon 2808), Perfect.

Its not that I accept it , its just that its never on something that I am actually watching . I only tend to notice it as I am flicking looking for something to watch . Some times its really bad , and other times it watchable. And only ever on the Movies Channels .

The problem for me is the reason I chose Sky over Virgin (which I had in me previous property) IS the movie channels. Me and the Mrs like our films, and the HD options on Virgin are very limited.

Strangely last night, it seemed a lot better, but we will have to wait and see.

Having a plasma and amp connected via optical I expected some delay and since getting Sky HD its not disappointed. The delay is not constant and varies even between HD channels, Discovery being one of the worst. Despite having an AMP that can adjust in smaller steps than the Sky box it happens.

I have noticed a few more instances of this of late which must be down to SKY. How much you see will depend to some extent on how fast the displays scaler works.

I take it OP has a direct connection as there has been no mention of the annoying delay in sound returning after FFWD/RWD picture whilst connected via optical which really is an oversight on a so called new bit of technology from SKY. I'm amazed the latest boxes can't output DD over HDMI

I read an article somewhere (I think it was by Barrry Fox) that the lip synch will problem may always be with us and lies at the core of the mpeg2 spec.
