Or do they whimper? Will the Bay of plenty become a bay of broken dreams? Well guys IT kicks off tomorrow at 7.30 am Sky sports 2. This is a must win game because its the first one otherwise its curtains for the rest of the tour. Must admit I am filled with excitement and some trepidation , but what I hope for is that they put on some good performances.Dont really expect them to win the test series as the AB's are simply awesome and have no weaknesses to speak of but then I never expected England to beat them in 2003 so anything is possible.
    Go Lions Go!

The Lions? Is that the team full of middle aged english men,and a suspiscious lack of Welsh players?

It was obviously England that has been the dominant team over the last year and Ive been watching something else..... :lease:

On current form I would say that you ought to be a little quieter at the moment...you're only as good as your last game ;)

Oh and you only went as far as 2003....if you go up to the present date we're even on titles....23 a piece.

I would have gone further than 2003, but the website didn't have any more detail (handily enough!)

And with regard current form, you are quite correct, but Johnny is back now!

Thanks just by making that reply, you have mad emy arguement for me!You have just demostrated how much you and obviousl ythe selecters are living in the past

The team should be selected on current form;England could have won the last 100 championships but that means fook all if they are playing crap atm,and just got hammered in the 6 nations :nono:

With regards to Johnny boy,if your whole hopes are pinned on that poor guy kicking your way to another string of victories that says it all. This is supposed to be rugby not a :censored: kicking competition

Hammered is a little strong, Wales only beat England in the last few minutes when Mr Church(sorry I can't remember his name) kicked a penalty. If he had missed then England would have won! Again France only beat England with kicking, if Charlie Hodgson had manged to convert anything (and I mean just one of the oppotunites) then England would have won that game as well. The championship would have looked very different then.

Also this thread is meant to be about the Lions where the home nations play nicely together, I am quite happy to carry on this debate elsewhere, but should we not get behind the Lions and hope they win down in NZ!

Oh god its all ifs and buts....and you could apply the same to the world cup that you won. But that's what sport is all about. A lot of skill, training, technique...and a lot of ifs and buts and luck on the day.

I agree that this has gone a little off track - I'm all behind the lions and will be up later on this morning to cheer them on but please be a bit more gracious in defeat :D you were outclassed in the 6 nations this year - not hammered but outclassed. And I think that you're lucky that you have so many english players in the side.

Oh and its Gavin Henson not Mr Church. ;)

Isnt this a rather pointless arguement? The moment they put that shirt on they are all Lions and dsoesnt matter where they come from. The reason CW went for so manmy Englishmen is experience . These guys know what it takes to win down under.
Any way they've got their first win under their belt and they know where they have to improve ie contact areas, less turnovers and they've got improve their tackling.
Positives= Josh Lewsey had an outstanding match. BOD Played very well as did Hill and Peel.Shanklin looked good on the wing and I thought the second row did ok.O'Ghara led the line well and his kicking out of hand was very good.
Negatives= too much turnover ball . O'Ghara, my son, your tackling was abysmal. When you tackle you go for the midriff you dont flap at your opponents shoulders, thats for pussies!
Still a win is a win and performaces are bound to improve from now on.
One bad note - the loss of Dayglo . This guy is a massive talent and will be sorely missed ( if the worst fares come to be ).
    Negatives

Correct me if I'm wrong but this isn't the same team that won the world cup, meaning you have the Irish in the team as well.

Where it was just the Brits that won the world cup. Shame they haven't played like it since but then lets hope they put up a good showing in NZ.

Personally I dont mind where they come from . As soon as they put that red shirt on they represent all four home unions. If it be me I would have picked Charvis as well particularly as Dayglo is now out.Token Celtic players??? Dont be silly. Yertsreday there were 3 in the forwards and 5 backs - hardly tokenism
