    Dave,

As far as I can tell the R1 version will not have the DTS track, only the R2 version will have it. At the moment I have the R2 version ordered with a view that if it turns out that the R1 does have dts on release, I can change my order and get it a little earlier.

I'm guessing at no. Just like a bugs life and monsters inc etc.

Although I'm as much a dts fan as everyone else, I'm more intrigued by the 'Disney Enhanced Theatre Mix'. Added to the US version being about half the price and me beginning to notice the speedup of PAL (Damn you forums) , I'm going for R1.

Both regions will have the Disney Theatre mix.

I have access to BVHE press section on their US website, and can confirm there is no DTS option yet announced for R1. This may change nearer the release date, but I wouldn't hold my breath.

The press release that DVD Answers quote was released in March and has changed since.

It will be the worst crime ever commited in the history of DVD to not put dts on the Lion King R1.

I never have understood why each region get's a different version of a DVD... surely they should prepare everything they want on the DVD, then encode for R1, then R2, then R3, etc, etc, instead of pissing about with different features, deleted scenes or no deleted scenes, commentary or no commentary... so stupid.

Then no one would be complaining about how 'they get a better version than us'

Typical example is Once Upon a Time in America... both R1 and R2 are supposed to be the full director's cut's, yet the R2 is 9 minutes shorter! Why?

Oh, sorry for going waaaaaaaay off topic... my fingers just took over. ;)

    Hardly.

The worst crimes committed in the history of DVD involve two words...

    "PAN" and "SCAN" ;)

    The 4% speed-up of PAL.

Buena Vista released a statement regarding dts on The Liong King dvd in region 01 a few weeks later saying they have cancelled the dts track.

I'm buying the region 02 version, dts is what I want :D

So region 2 will have DTS so wot pal 4% speedup DOES affect sound quality and the Dolby Digital EX track will sound great, i'll be buying region 1 even though i'm a DTS fan.

Well I'm 100% buying the R1 Gift Set... don't care if it has dts or not.

5 Exclusive character portraits are more important to me than dts. Shame they're not signed by the actors who voiced them though.
