    Just read this...........

    The Lion King: DVD
Status: Scheduled for release before 2010.
    Availability: None.

The Lion King is scheduled for release as part of Disney's "Platinum Collection" VHS/DVD series, which includes ten titles that will be released at a rate of one per year beginning with Snow White in the fall of 2001. The order in which the titles will be released is currently unknown, so The Lion King may appear as early as 2002 or as late as 2010.

The likeliest release date for the DVD is October 2003, one year after the Beauty and the Beast DVD release; this follows from TLK appearing in IMAX theaters on December 25, 2002, roughly one year after BatB.

Oh cool! Lion King in Imax gotta check that out! :D

Bads really isn't it? I mean why? We all want a copy of it on DVD. After I'd sold my laserdisc copy to Buns I discover that there's a billion year wait for it on any other format. I'd like to show Disney where the sun can shine from.:)

Anyone remember the mess regarding the release of E.T. on video? Remember how long we had to wait for it? It puts me in mind of that. I thought those days were long gone......

I couldn't give a toss about The Lion King (maybe because I haven't seen it), but it sounds like Disney are really taking the **** with this!! Maybe they think it will build hype. I suspect that by the time it is released, no one will care much anymore as their children will have grown up (they are the primary market after all)!

Excuse me but isn't there a thing called procreation, so there is always a market.

If you haven't seen The Lion King i suggest you do as it appeals to adults also *beautiful film* Delphi has the laser disc.

The new kids will go crazy over whatever new Disney film is available then. That's what kids are like - they want the latest thing, not a "classic" movie.

I would if I were you as it is a very good film. If it makes any difference it is also a good system workout.

You don't know anything about children, my little boy who's only 5 loves classics such as Bambi and Snow White so much for your theory.

Rubbish. Up until school age, kids will watch what they are given by their parents and will make their own minds up whether they like it or not.
After they get to school they are also influenced by their peers and though they should still only have access to the movies the parents provide, they may decide they like something because their best friend does.
My (nearly) 3 year old loves Jungle book but is not interested in The Road To Eldorado.

My six and a half year old daughters favourite films at the moment are:

    Yellow Submarine
    Young Frankenstein
    A Knights Tale
    Dumbo
    The Pink Panther Films
    Nuts in May
    Jurassic Park 3

We take her to the cinema about 6 times a year but she never asks to see anything inparticular.

Yes, you lot are right about younger children of course. I had older children who are at school in mind, who as Spectre says, are more influenced by their friends. Which means Spectre agreed with me  :p OK, maybe I should have qualified what I said with that condition.

My ex-girlfriend's boys, who are 7 and 10, were prone to shouting continuously about what film they wanted to see when they knew we were taking them to the cinema or putting a DVD on. Ask them "Monsters Inc" or "Snow White and the 7 Dwarfs" and you can guess what they'd scream for - of course, all the merchandising fuels this as well.

AccursedDelphi - If you base what someone knows about children entirely on what they type on a forum about kids movies, then I'd say you're a very poor judge of character. You are unncessarily extreme and crude, as always.

I was neither extreme or crude i was just stating a fact as i saw it , if you were offened then you are easily so.

You should be more specific then with your post as you were vague.

In fact i saw it as you telling us what children liked and no one can do that as the are all individuals. :)

    Hi,

The Lion King laserdisc is well worth it just for the digital audio on the title sequence...... besides I just love the Kung-foo sequence.
