I've been mucking around with Mandrake 10.1 recently and like it a lot. I'm trying to build a multimedia PC with it as an OS and so far it's going OK. However, when I click 'Turn off the computer' it starts to shut down and then just sits there with the bar 95% of the way across. Is this an OS issue or is it a hardware issue? Clciking 'reset' works fine.

Sounds like some process has got stuck shutting down, could be a pain trying to discover which one. Which Window Manager are you using?

    Hi,

On googling thoroughly it seems this is common with Mandrake 10.1 and some Via chipsets and there is a setting you have to change in the Kernel somewhere. Not had time to play with it yet but I think it's solvable.

I had this on 10.1 on the PC in the kitchen and it is gone on 10.2 (at least I haven't seen it the three times I've turned off the machine). No idea what it was, but since I never turned the machine off it wasn't a hassle.

    Cheers

    Greg
