I am looking at getting an LK280 amp and was wondering how they compare to modern amps up to the £500 price point?

Obviously when new (quite a few years ago now!) they were considerably more expensive than £500.

The LK280 is now almost 20 yrs old,and when looking at older amps, you have to be sure that the price is right for the age,and also to bear in mind things like capacitors which may be getting a bit old.

Assuming it is in good order, and works well,it's basically a good amplifier, and better than the LK240 that replaced it.
Unusually for it's range,it has fully regulated output supplies, and thus is pretty load tolerant,if not very powerful.

Nice clean little amp,but the later Klout is much better, although more expensive.

    Thanks,

do you think that the Spark upgrade is a dramatic improvement?

What would be a realistic price for a late LK280 + Spark?

I honestly couldnt say what an LK280 would be worth now,but given it's age,and the fact that Klouts can sell for up to £800,I would expect a few hundred to be reasonable.

The Spark I admit to having no knowledge other than it being an off-board PSU.

Sorry for that not being a lot of help!
