    Which one?

The Klimax (mono) or the Stereo Kilmax?

The Kilmax is good, the Stereo Kilmax is not so exciting (but still bloody good though!)

It is the mono. I have been offered upto 6! I only want 2/3 channels though. I have had mixed experrience of these amps but yesterday with CD12 (£12k), Klimax monos (£6k each) and the new high end Linn speaker (£25k), it was a fun afternoon!

    I'd go for them, personally.

They look nice as well as sounding nice. Shame they are in a Linn AV 3/4 box.

Are you going to Klimax your front 3 channels?

    Have Fun!

    Hi Nic,
I demo'd the Klimax monos a little while ago with my mate (Rich git!) and I must say they were excellent, but that price!!! Ouch!!!!!
He didnt buy them in the end as he prefered Chord.

It is one thing being offered 6, it is another even being able to afford 1!

If there is a will, there is always a way;)

What's the rest of your system like?

I demoed the full Linn setup and was initially impressed. It sure is exiting! I then auditioned some US equipment and realised the Linn's shortcomings.

Basically it sounds artificial like all the Linn products. I ended up with a Theta/Martin Logan set up with two large Rel subs. Realistic? You bet!!

I urge you to try the likes of Krell, Theta etc before you fall for the Linn hype machine.

AV stuff is primarily Tag High end (bought in preference to Theta etc) which I demo'e at the time. However a new speaker purchase has necessitated a new amp. (KEF Ref 4-2).

My previous Posselts were drive by 300 SE amps (15w), the new speakers no way. I have been listening to several options. Stereostereo's Bonnec special is perhaps the best amp I have heard to date (£1000/channel plain box).

I have heard the Brystons / Parasounds of this world and although I rate both they are of the same quality as my current Tag 100x5r. I need something with much more balls. I am intersted in hearing the new 250w Tag and I know others have had good results with Krell and Kef in the past, I just have to get past cetain 'preduces' re Krell.

main stereo stuff is higher end again. Local dealer insists that the Klimax is the way to go but I have reservations. Linn is a company that produces some brilliant kit and other kit which leaves me cold....

    Bi amping is another option......
