    Hi
I thought i would post a link for anybody who is trying to get the new X-Mystique Dolby Digital Live Encoding sound card.

You can buy direct from HiTec, with delivery normally about 4 days.(from Korea!)

    Link to X-Mystique website

The first ones have now been sold on ebay(and no more planned by HiTec), and it looks like there will be a wait until they start "retailing" them.

It is a very good sound card in it's own right.(as far as i can tell)
But the main reason i bought one, was to replace the DD5.1 live "Encoding" i enjoyed via "Sound Storm" from my nForce motherboard.
This was due to nVidia's decision to drop SoundStorm after the nForce2 motherboards.(we had hoped to see SoundStorm2 on nForce4 etc)
I need a Micro ATX board and sadly, even the new Pentium MBs only do the DD "Live" in full ATX.(contrary to what is stated on some manufacturers website...Asus :suicide: )

Any surround sound in a game, is converted into Dolby Digital 2.0/4.0/5.1 (even a type of 7.1) etc.
This is then sent to your surround amp/receiver via your single SPDIF lead.

WMV-(HD) audio 5.1 is also converted to Dolby Digital 5.1 just the same.

DVD DD/DTS is just passed through untouched as normal.

This simplifies everything, as only one lead is needed to be connected to you amp/receiver.

Even windows sounds are sent as Dolby Digital.

This card(and many to follow i'm sure), finally gives people the chance to choose other motherboards and processors, and still enjoy live DD "Encoding". :smashin:

    Tip: :lesson:
Make sure you change the speaker setting in windows(from desktop 2 etc) to 5.1, otherwise WMV 5.1 isn't decoded properly. ;)

    As for the name change...

I decided it was time to "start" trying to grow up!

I'm a Dad now, so no more beer or late nights (not!) :hiya:

I had never heard of this card, looks like it might be a good solution for digital connections to receivers.

    Nice one.

What a surprise, it costs more here than shipping all the way from Korea!

What's the total cost buying direct when you include shipping and VAT? The overclockers.co.uk price doesn't seem so expensive in reality. Returning if faulty is also easier, well maybe not we are talking about overclockers here.. ;)

Good point, I'd gone to checkout and just saw shipping as zero dollars. I just tried to complete and it doesn't look like they ship to the UK any more!

Yep, only used this with MCE2005.
Works perfectly with WMVHD to give 5.1 via SPDIF etc. (Just remember to select 5.1 speakers in "Windows" speaker selection panel etc)

Can anyone say how the sound quality compares with either
    1. any other sound cards, or with
    2. a good DVD video player generating the SPDIF?
    Cheers, Nick

Sound should be fine as any DD or DTS stream is left untouched by the sound card and sent straight to the amp for on board decoding.
