Does anyone know how this recording method stands up in comparision with MP3 and WMA etc etc?
PCM is the equivalent of standard 'redbook' CD, so is uncompressed with higher bitrates (1.4MB/s I believe), so should be higher quality than the 'lossy' compressed formats, all things otherwise being equal...
As KJ sya it's a much higher bitrate than MP3, AAC, Dolby Digital, DTS et al. Many music DVDs have a Linear PCM track on them as well as the surround sound tracks. They generally are 5-6 times greater in size
