Limit DVD9900SE 5.1 Out vs. Opt. Dig. Out

    Hi All,

    I'm somewhat of a novice at all this A/V stuff, so can someone please help me with a query:

    I have a Limit DVD9900SE and a Marantz SR7300. The Limit has 5.1 outputs, but the Marantz is compatible for 7.1.

    If I connect the 5.1 from the DVD to the Marantz, the Marantz manual tells me that this connection overrides any internal decoding -- i.e. only the 5.1 will be available.

    My question concerns Optical Digital output on the DVD. Since the Limit also has digi output, should I use that connection into the Marantz, and allow the Marantz to handle the decoding? Since it's a opt. digital output, won't that carry a good clean signal anyway?

    Any advice is greatly appreciated.

    Let the Marantz handle the decoding by using a digital (optical or coaxial) connection, it'll have better decoding than the Limit. ;)
