What's the current situation regarding limes?
I can't find any on the shelves in London ( tried 4 supermarkets in quite different parts of town).

I've had to resort to lemons...but its going to ruin my guacamole.

Is there something up with the lime supplies?

I tried buyinig some last week and had a hell of a time....ended up finding a little green grocer who had a stash hidden away....he presumed I wanted them to put in a beer bottle.....was a bit surprised when I told him it was for a chilli chicken dish.

If you have any local Indian shops it's worth trying them. When I worked in Derby I used to buy all my spices and stuff from a little back street Indian shop and everything was so much cheaper.

Didn't this happen in WW2 too, leading people to drink Coke with lemon as lime was unavailable - maybe as Coke have starting selling Coke with lime they are buying them all up :D

This is both good and bad.

Good - because I can drink my fave bottles in virtually every pub I go in.  :)

Bad - because after drinking this for the past 13 years, suddenly it seems like I'm jumping onto the trendy band wagon. :( :thumbsdow

When it comes to Corona and its like, I'm one of the NFL brigade: No F***ing Lime!

These beers are supposed to drunk without a chunk of fruit stuck in the neck! The lime has nothing to do with tradition, it was just someone's clever idea of avoiding lost profits due to bottle returns; i.e.with a chunk of lime inside, the bottle has to be destroyed, rather than collected, cleaned and re-used...making it a more 'profitable' drink.

Not so much of an issue today...but anyone that tells you "it's the way it's supposed to be drunk", is talking a load of old tosh.

The same sort of thing happens to me when I look for prawns.

Now and again they just aren't available.

    Funny old world.:)
