I was hoping you could all help me with some ideas for my lighting......
Basically I have just finished battening out my room , and now need to think about light placement so as I can put the wires in. I have a completely blank canvas , the room is about 14` x 8`. What lights do you suggest I put in I was thinking of putting recessed halogens in the ceiling, but after reading about this, some people say that they are too directional and won`t light the whole room. Is this a problem?? As it will be mainly used as a cinema room anyhow.
Should I think about wall lights etc....?
If I do put spots in should they be halogen or normal bulbs?
Any thing I should plan for now whilst I have the chance?

As always all ideas very much appreciated, pictures are greatly appreciated too, so as I can get some idea of what you chaps have put in..

    Many Thanks

    Nathan

I'd go with ceiling halogens, I put six along the centre of the ceiling together with five more directional ones to illuminate posters on the wall and have no problem with lighting the room properly even though it is painted with dark colours. The room is 16ft x 8ft. Check the link in my sig for pictures.

Many thanks for you reply, your room looks very similar to how mine is going to be. Do you use dimmers for your lights or just normal switches? and out of interest how big is the raised platform ?

    Many Thanks

    Nathan,

The lights are split into 4 zones and all controlled remotely by a futronix dimmer.
The raised platform is 8ft by 5ft
