Lighter shades on LG 37LC3R

I have recently purchased an LG 37LC3R LCD tv. This is my first LCD tv, so I do not know if what I am seeing is to be considered normal or not, so here goes:

There are parts on tv that seem to be a bit brighter than most of the actual screen. it sort of looks like there is a circle in the middle right of the screen and 2 half circles, one in the center and in the middle left.
This most noticeably shows when the screen is all black, for example when I switch to an input that doesn't have a signal. But it shows up when I am watching video footage as well, especially when the right part (the part with the full circle) is a bit darker.

I am basically wondering if this is normal behavior or if this is a defect. Is there anything I can do to fix this?
