Does anyone know if the light guns you can get for some games work with a projector?

I'm not entirely sure how they work anyway!!

Look on How Stuff Works, this will explain how the lightgun works

As to working on a Projector, I was going to say no, but I then read on IGN that there has been reader who got a lightgun to work with Rear Projection TV.
So hopefully someone else knows in this forum if they work.

    Interesting... Thanks for that!! :)

I've got a DLP projector on order so it looks like I won't be able to use one, just thought that it might be fun shooting at life-size enemies :D

I might still see if i can borrow one off a friend just in case it works!

    Cheers

I answered this days ago in the projector forum.
It should be fine as long as you use a crt projector not a digital panel model. Avoid any scaling or deinterlacing so you'll have to use a bog standard video res interlaced sugnal ( s-video/composite or maybe componenet on some units). Avoid any units with built in deinterlacers/ scalers also.

you'll need the room to be optimum with regard to ambient light to get the gun to properly read the screen.

So why doesnt a light gun work on my widescreen telly ? It's not a 100hz tv. I tried it in every mode...4:3, 16.9 but no luck. Can't see why it would work on a CRT but not on my ws.

duff gun perhaps. I've used a Gcon no problem on my 32" widescreen. I assume you've connected it up correctly?

MrD's right..there's no reason why it wouldn;t work unless (if you're using a Guncon) you haven't plugged in the yellow lead in..(which should be attached to your gun)..
