Anyone interested? MMan will do us a group-buy style deal on shipping over a quantity of MMud for us to make our own Light Fusion screens.

I'm buying some MMud anyway, but if a few of us club together we can split the shipping costs.

Have a look in the main Light Fusion thread for pictures and more details.

OK, I'll PM MMan and get him to post in here with prices.

I have already given MMan my credit card details, so it's probably easiest for all concerned if I pay everything on that and everyone that wants in pays me?

Hopefully we'll get some more details up on here in the next day or so. :)

So far, there's the three of us in that have posted here plus one other - so four people total.

Just want to chime in and register my interest (interest only - nothing definite!).

Hasn't anyone successfully mixed a MMud equivalent over here in the UK then?

Where are you guys looking for your mirrors?

Fat Boy - I'm from Telford :) (But I live in Manchester now)

I'm also still skeptical about this whole Light Fusion thing - has anyone actually seen or heard of anybody, other than the Mississippi dude, successfully creating a screen using this method?

i'd be interested in trying this.

i assume i don't *have* to use the mix on a mirror - i could just use it on a wall?

    Hello all,

Been crazy busy with some installations, and a sick Father as well.

By my calculations, 4 individuals could split a 3 - 1/2 Gallon mix at the following price of ingrediants in USD.

1 Gallon Behr Ultra Pure White Exterior Latex @ $ 19.95

1 Gallon Behr Deep Base Exterior Latex @ $ 19.95

4 Quarts Behr White Opal Pearlescent @ $ 17.50 ea.

    1 Quart Behr Silver Metallic @ N/C
(8 Oz. used in the 3 gallon Mix)
I have extra left over. This will be a freebee.

24 Oz Distilled Water "Big Bucks!"

    Total for 3.5 gallon MMud-SE mix $110.00 + Freight*
    *Estimated Freight and taxes $160.00
    Final total $270.00

    $270 split 4 ways = $67.00

Individually, a 3 quart mix shipped to Blighty is $160.00 so there is no doubting the wisdom of a group purchase.

There is enough mix to go "Five Ways" so if one other pulls a trigger, the cost for each of a Quintuplet arraingement would be just $54.00 USD for 3 quarts of MMud-SE

BTW, in the spirt of DIY, a simple check on the web will show the prices given to be the ones found "on the shelf". No proffiteering here, my Lads.

    Kez,

This Mix will work excellently when applied onto any receptive blank surface. A undercoat of a Bright White primer is all that needed in the way of Preperation, save some potential need for sanding to smooth before or between coats. MMud-SE will enhance CR. Adding a small additional amount of Silver Metallic can boost CR considerably, but soon, lumenosity and whites can suffer.

    Sounds great!

Fatboy, please pm me for payment details, also mirror details if you have them

Even if it wasn't better than Goo, which btw lots of people said wouldn't work- isn't £40 worth the risk just to paint MMud on some mdf to try? Ill probably try a cheap mirror first to see if it's worth it...

Hardly the end of the world if it doesn't....

    Cheers :smashin:

    MMan,

Will that be delivered in one big tub and I'll have to divide and ship it?

How much does the cost go up if you split it into 3 quart tubs at your end and ship them over in one consignment? I'm not too sure where I'm going to get a bunch of 3 quart tubs from!

Finally, once we get everything sorted out, have a final price and are ready to go, I take PayPal or Nochex (assuming you cover fees), bank transfer, cheques, postal orders or even cash (sent at your risk) :)

PM me to find out details of your payment method of choice.

I don't think I know of where to get "3 quart" tubs either.

    I just use a 1 gallon Can.

I can certainly ship the MMud in separate conatiners within a larger box, but the added size required due to additional packaging materials will up the frieght somewhat...., how much I would not know until I bring the pkg. in for measure/weighing.

I'll try to refigure it all (as 3 separate containers or 4?) and then PM you.

Gotta get this done soon as I leave for Maui next Wenesday.

    For work of course.

    Tough Duty, I know.

Give us a price for 4 seperate containers... If it's significantly higher, then we'll go with a single container and I'll have to sort something out here to distribute the stuff!

    count me in, then! :smashin:

some of the extra silver metallic would be handy, as i only have a panny ae100 which isn't the best CR-wise.

plus, i need to get the blackout lining fitted, which should help, too ;)

Everything all considering, any request can be accomodated. That is, except the certainty that one will be there from one moment to the next.

I'm currently on Maui, absorbing what Aloha I can, after rolling my Nissan Frontier 4Dr SuperCharged Pick Up 3 times vertically and landing on the wheels. 3 days ago. I'm stiff, have a "Air Bag" induced concussion, and Ibroprofin is my current drug of choice. <Shoulder / Seatbelt was in use..>
The 32 Gallon 5 Hp Paint Compressor and 2 - 1gallon cans of MMud were "Fused" in a not so desirable way, into the surrounding landscape.

I was renderd unconsious by the Airbag and the tumble, but according to wittnesses, I un-straped then exited the vehicale upon it's righting, then went 'down' for approx. 5 minutes, flat on my back, in a mud puddle. (..No cracks, please....) I actually still cannot remember a single thing leading directly up to the apparent incident.

I checked out Ok after 10 hrs. testing at the Trauma Center.
...do you know how much a full body CAT Scan AND a 3/4 body set of X-Rays costs in the US of A?

    :lease: Order MMud now!

:D ......take my Wife, please! JKA

Actually, I'm doing remarkably well, and in the progress of spraying a 110" 16:9 for my Maui Dealer and his Client. Below is a overview of what goes on in the "invisible world"

Well don't do that cos we now have 2. Speaking with the master of Mud, he will do a mix when he gets a firm order which is fair enough.

Maybe we should pick a cut off date for takers and then place the order. At least we will get some over here and can see the results for ourselves.

I've checked the prices too and MississippiMan said that they have not changed so they are the same as those quoted eariler in this thread.

Well lets see what the pick up is on this again. If there is a lot of activity lets go for 1st Aug.

If there is no take up over the next few days if looks like you and I are going to be the UK guinea pigs and we will get an order in next week, that is if you are happy to split the costs.

Bearing in mind that in no sprayer I would like to have more mud rather than less anyway.

Well a standard mix gives us 3.5 US Gallons of muck with MississippiMan recommending this gets split 4 ways. At a push a 5-way split could be done to reduce the cost some more but it might leave us a bit short, mistakes etc.

So as we are all new to this I say we go for the 4-way split even though it costs a little more. At current conversion rates that is £38.36 per way.

At this price are you in kez? Cos if you are we only need one more to get the 4.

MississippiMan, For novice sprayers (a couple of test spays + the main) what size screen could we expect to produce?

PayPal was mentioned b4 and I think was fine, (little bit of commison in there and a less competitve exchange rate) but the easiest and safest for all.

I think MississippiMan ended up making the mix last time b4 there was any real commitment and then it all went dead so he had to use it elsewhere. So this time it is cash first, mix and then ship in lots of 4

    Lot 1:
    GaryM999 (confirmed)
    mikeaitch (confirmed)
    kez (maybe??)

Need one or two more; Anyone else???
