I, like many others have been following the discussions about the AE100 over at AVS. Li On as many will know is doing most of the testing and reporting on the PJ. He says he is going to post some pictures tonight which should be very interesting (no disrespect to Timh's efforts but I think Li On has a higher resolution camera and has configured his HTPC and Panny PJ)

Anyway, to cut a long story short he seems to post around 3am every night(he's in Far east) so if you're interested and a bit of a night owl, you should check AVS

Li On is a great guy. I visited his home in Hong Kong last year. To say he knows what he is talking about is an understatement. From what I've witnessed, Li On is a Video freak. While he likes the audio side, his real interest and expertise lie's much more on the visual side. His comments should be taken very seriously.

    Hi Eric,

Nice to meet you here! :)

I feel some heat on me! The screen shoot issue! :)

Well, I got tons of photos, but almost all of the images looks like CRAP! It's my first time taking screen shoot. Now I know why I don't trust screen shoot!

Maybe I'll try to post a few that may look 30% as good as the real picture on screen. MOST if not all the shoots need to be re-do!

It's much harder than projector setup and tweaking! :)

    regards,

    Li On

PS: still using the 808, eric?

    Hi Li On,
Hows things over there. Did you do the shoot out at TK's place last saturday?
Yep, still using the 808 but looking to upgrade. If I can get a good used G90 I might just go for it.
Bit difficult to find over here though.
Thanks for trying to find that disc for me last week.

    Best Wishes
    Eric

Might I suggest that when you take the screenshots you set your exposure based on a mid gray full test frame. This should depict the relationship of the real intensity scale of the projector a bit more accurately ie show us where the blacks are in relationship to the whites.

Also a nice grayscale ramp would be a useful indicator.

Lock your exposure based on a mid gray though for everything you shoot.
