So I've just been doing another look at prices. Richersounds are now doing an extra 200 off the 65inch lgb7 oled. I just put it in basket added the voucher code and it cam down to £1999.

Is this one of those waiting it out and diving moments you were telling us about?

Yes, I don't think it will be any different with the 2018 models this time next year though so it's just a matter if you want to swoop now, now will be a good time.

The 2017 bargains are running thin as we get left with overpriced 2018 alternatives.

I was walking away from oled and spending over £2000. But this feels like I could miss out if I don't jump on it.

Is the C8 worth £500 more after cashback?

I know the initial outlay of £3K is, well, £1K more. But hmmm, £2K for a very good OLED is sorely tempting.

Any ideas is the panel quality ie, banding or tinting is better for the 2018 models?

5 days to decide and after that surely stocks must be nearly dry and a better price ain't coming?

Of course it's not worth £500 more! There are marginal gains but OLED is already at its pinnacle now, there won't be OLED TVs released each year that are too much better than the last. There is nowhere further the technology can go. This year is no different, neither will next year be with the B9 or C9.

Luck of the draw, panel quality is something you can get lucky or unlucky with no matter which tv you go for. Just because there are reports of bad panels on the 2017 range doesn't make the probability any different, it just means they have sold more TVs.

I very much doubt it, I imagine £2000 is pretty much selling at a loss at this point.

    Cheers Dodgexander

My last stumbling block in getting this is I'm waiting on a replacement from Samsung themselves for my broken JS9000.

To by an OLED I need to be able to sell whatever they offer me. So I repeat, I need someone to privately by a Samsung LCD that I highly doubt will be a Q9. As long as selling at a loss of no more than £500 and I'll be happy.

One more push at Samsung to contact me before the deadline. Ugh I hate that company.

Ask for an uplift code from Samsung? That’s basically a refund to use with the retailer and cuts out some of the hassle for you.

    Didn't know about that thanks.

My only issue with that is I dont want to deal with the retailer again as they are so reluctant to except returns and the hassle of return posting said TV. Richer Sounds are 30 mins away and I will forever regret not using them in the first place.

Ok so I have skyhd box outputing 1080i. Ive heard the b7v has some slight issue with this. How much of an issue is this? I can change it to output 720p if that would sort it?

LOL your watching Vincent on HDTVTest arn't you?!

Yes he said putting a progressive image will help this. 1080i or 720P? Dunno but its really on what you watch I think. Football etc, give the source 720P would probably be a better option.

Because everyone not having an OLED yet is doing the same thing right now lol.

Take a look (i'm sure you already are) at the B7 Vs C8. Unless your gaming, it's not a big step up according to Vincent.

However while I know he said don't pay too much attention to the screen grabs and video clips, the shots of Planet Earth II open credits do look a fait bit better (ie blacker) on the C8. And the price difference is not as great at the time of the comparison.

A trip to RS on Sunday is in order, and probably my order.

Is a C8 worth £500 more? Possibly not.

Is any other TV around £1500 better than a B7? Definitely not. As long as your happy with OLED's technology, it's a ridiculously good, not to be bettered price.

Why bother with the sale of the new TV? If you even got something like a NU8000 you may be very happy with it. You might even get a Q6 or Q7.

Of course these aren't the same quality as oleds but depending on the model you get, the timing and the loss, it may just be worth not bothering.

Regarding the handling of 1080i you'll find it hard to find a TV without an issue related to this. Look hard and you find a downside to every TV.

An equivalent set should be Q8CN which someone else on this site had been offered for a replacement of their JS9000

I don't particularly want another curved set but certainly not an edge lit set, though of course that is not Samsungs problem.

IF I could push them for a Q8DN fald set (same price as the Q8FN) I might keep that, but I'd be very surprised if they give me one of those.

Basically, while I know OLED's are not the perfect TV, they do offer what I now want in a TV and I'd be forever regretting not getting one (by whatever means) for a second time

I dealt with Samsung directly, but got offered a flat or curved set to replace my ks7500 - I don’t see why you wouldn’t get offered a flat screen when it’s cheaper.

JS9000 was the first gen qled so it's equivalent is definitely something like a Q6, maybe less. Getting the Q8CN was offered because it's curved or they just got lucky/pushed for a higher end model. Maybe they also look at original sale value, not sure.

Now would be good timing to sell the replacement you get if it's a 2018 model but of course unless you have the cash to buy before your replacement then you may run out of time.

Could always wait a year of course but lose even more money.

Yeah I mean I think it could go either way for what I get offered. A Q6 or Q7 is still around £2.5K

But also, I can look at it that if I buy the B7 at £2k now, a Q6 or Q7 is still around £2.5K. I will state here and now, I will be happy to sell for considerably less just to get the OLED. Nervous about not finding a buyer is my only fear.

O dear .They arent doing finance on the b7. Cash only sheesh. But the sony and nu8000 they are.
Is this years sony got an improved android smart system? And what do we think of the nu8000 best of the rest at £1675?

NU8000 is still overpriced - MU equivalent was going for £999 recently. Sony is worth the premium over it.

It's probably because they don't make anything on the sale of the discounted oled whilst they do on the newer models because they are so marked up right now.

Literally the only 2018 models that aren't very overpriced are the Hisense ones and even those will go down a little over time.
