LG42LA740V vs Sony Bravia KDL42W8

After some help please.....going to be using the tv mainly for watching sky sports and blu rays. I've narrowed my choice down to LG42La740v and the 2014 Sony Bravia KDL42W8.

Any ideas which would be best for the football and blu rays?

Can't comment on the LG but have just got the new Sony 42W8 and love it so far. The HD material looks great on it and I'm impressed with the freeview picture as well. I've not adjusted many settings yet so I'm sure the set can only get better.
