Question Lg tv recording function

Hi there hopefully someone will help me so brought a new lg 50un80006lc few weeks ago from curry’s and I know it supports live tv recording I click to record and it says connect a usb storage device so I brought a Sandisk Cruzer 128gb I have even formatted it to FAT32 and used NTFS but when I plug it and try and record it checks the usb then says this device cannot be used for recording. So what usb flash drive do I need what size what format do I need a flash drive or usb hard drive on the lg

A USB HDD is best.
Your user manual should tell you the capacity and how to format it.

Okay I will give that a check I think usb hdd would work better clearly it don’t like usb flash drive do you recommend a powered hdd or unpowered

You can get away with unpowered, but powered is always a better bet. My LG TV doesn't like USB sticks but seems happier with a bus-powered external HDD. That said, the recordings made had bits missing. On my Panasonic TV, recording works perfectly using a bus-powered HDD. I don't think that the LG facility is fully formed.
