    Hi

Having just purchased a new Plasma i am trying to find out the best way to connect my Sky + to my Plasma.

    Plasma has

    S-Video
    Component
    RCA
    RS232 - rgb?

    Sky + has

    S-video
    Rs232?
    Scart

Sorry if this is a real simple one but being new to all this it is hard to decide which is the best combination. Currently using the Sky through the S-Video and Audio via Optical link.

    thanks in advance :hiya:

turn the sky+ to RGB in services menu and use the scart into the plasma via a scart-component lead

go for a good quality lead

Leads are a black art, choose a budget (and stick to it!!) I normally go for a brand I have heard of.

I'm afraid scarty is off the wall here, this won't work. Component and RGB are 2 different signals. S-video will be cheapest decent connection, easy too. Other solutions involve relatively expensive converter boxes.

Dunno, never tried it. It's worth a try, as PX11s are well known not to be very special on RGB scart. S-video can surprise folks. In theory, RGB scart is better, in practice it can depend on how the display handles the signal. Some displays convert RGB to s-video before processing! It's not unusual in CRT TVs.

Have no idea about the PX11, but I guess you have ordered the new PX3-4 model?
Then scart (rgb enabled) it will give you much better picture then s-video. I did some experiments with my LG42PX3RV and a good quality scart will give you the best and cheapest results for TV viewing. But check first your sky+ box-does it output RGB signal.
