Sorry to be such a grammar pedant, Steve, but it's COMPLEMENT (an accompaniment or addition), not COMPLIMENT (praise or admiration) as used in the context of your syntax.

      Thanks for your review!

Nice review Steve. I'd love to see you do a Top 10 soundbar roundup based purely on audio quality for Bluray and 4K UHD playback.
I recently picked up the Samsung HW-MS650 Sound+ soundbar and your review on that was excellent too- even tho I was initially sceptical of it's performance based on the reviews I read, having lived with it for a few weeks now I'm happy with it.
How would you compare the Samsung to this LG?

Thanks for review Steve - do you know if there will be new Atmos sound bars at CES this year or current models being carried over?

Already been announced that LG will have 2 new Atmos soundbars with the option of wireless rears.

I think the shadow of HDM 2.1 (or lack of) is going to hang over any new soundbars shown at CES next week.

Yes, but's about time that soundbars had a decent number of HDMI inputs. Relying on having the TV route everything doesn't really work, because manufacturers don't handle this very well.

If I might be a pedant too, it isn't actually a grammar mistake but a good old-fashioned spelling mistake on my part but thanks for sorting that out. All fixed now.

No, the HDMI connection with ARC should be sufficient.

I notice that the SJ8 is down to £349 which seems like a good deal. Or is there another soundbar I should consider in that price range?

Good review. The more time I spend with this soundbar, the more I like it. It's not perfect, but it's good, and certainly better than in-built audio. My main complaint is the lack of HDMI inputs.

As the review suggests, I had to reduce the subwoofer a few notches (-4 or -5 for me, depending on viewing), but now it delivers a well-rounded sound without being too heavy.

Hi guys, looking for initial set-up advice. Currently got SkyQ set-top-box connected to HDMI 1 in LG 55 B7 panel and Oppo 203 into HDMI 2 (ARC) both with HDMI cables that came with both boxes.

Just bought LG SJ8 Soundbar to add to the set up. What is best HDMI cable solution? Should HDMI cable into SJ8 come from HDMI 2 (ARC) on the panel for instance, and does that particular cable need to be of a certain standard (HDMI 2.0 a/b HDCP 2.2 etc) if it's only carrying audio and not video (e.g. could it be an older 1.3 or 1.4 HDMI cable)?

      All advice welcome. Thanks.

I'm interested in the same. My friends have just bought this soundbar, along with the 55"c7....i've bought them a Sony UPB X700, which i connected earlier today, ( HDMI 2 ARC. )
Their soundbar is presently connected via optical. I'm assuming the best & correct way is to connect the soundbar via HDMI, too, if so which HDMI do you use ? ( Apparently there's 2 HDMI on the back of the soundbar, is one of them ARC ? ( In & Out. ) I couldn't look properly when i was there....any advice on correct connection much appreciated.

      Hi,

I’m an owner of the OLED55B6V TV and saw this video
LG Soundbar SJ8 l Perfect Fit with LG TVs
with the LG SJ8 Soundbar and the T8 Bracket, but I see that the bracket only supports OLED65/55B7 - OLED65/55C7. But the dimension looks the same to me.

Does anyone maybe know whether the T8 bracket supports the OLED55B6V in combination with the LG SJ8 Soundbar? I think this will be a beautiful setup without to much of hassle.

Has anyone got this sound bar paired up with a 65” B/C7 using the T8 stand?

FWIW, this is what the SJ8 looks like with the 65" B7.

For anyone interested, the T8 bracket is now down to £9.97 at Curry’s. Just ordered one for store pickup on Monday.

Anyone else here experiencing sound drop outs with this? We've been discussing in detail here -

Question - LG SJ8 Soundbar - Audio lag?

I'd suggest perhaps holding off on purchasing until this issue has been resolved.

Is the dropout literally for a second then the sound plays as normal?

Kind of - the cut out is for a split second, but can happen multiple times in a short space of time. For example if you're watching a scene that is heavy on dialogue, anytime there is a slight pause, when the dialogue starts again you'll miss the start of the person speaking. Hope that makes sense? There is a short video posted on the forum I linked to in ym last post which shows the issue

Sorry to hear you're struggling. I had sent my bar back to LG for repair. It came back today still suffering with the same fault. I'm so frustrated - have no idea how to get this sorted!

I'm convinced it must be a bad batch. We should compare the manufacturing dates printed next to the serial number on the underside of the sound bar.
