Been looking round Currys and Comet today and saw the LG RZ37LZ31 in all its HD glory. Wow, LG have certainly come along way in the last few years haven't they? Didn't they used to be a bit cheap and nasty?
I would say that the LG screens I saw today had the best quality picture I've ever seen.
At my local Currys they had the LG 32LX2R, the LG RZ37LZ31 and the top of the range £4000, 50" LG plasma all side-by-side and all running off of a HD feed.
The 32" had the sharpest picture and the colours were very bright and clean.
The 50" LG plasma had the most amazing picture I've ever seen. It was like looking out of the window. So life like and realistic. The picture wasn't as sharp and clean as the 32" but it just had that, "thing".
Now, the 37" was drifting somewhere between these two sets. Because it's an LCD it had a very sharp clean picture but it also had a lot more depth and realism like the 50" plasma.
The LG RZ37LZ31 is looking like the best telly within my £1500 price budget but there is just one thing standing in the way... The Samsung LE40R51B.
I am yet to see the 40" Samsung screen in "real life" and I've heard good and bad things about it. I've read the posts on here about the buzzing sounds made by this set and some of the others in the Samsung range. Plus I've also heard that picture quality, although clean and sharp, is lacking good contrast and colour depth (samsung 800:1, LG 1200:1).
Is it worth having a screen 3 iches bigger only to loose some picture quality or do you stick with a quite adequate 37" screen with slightly better picture quality.
Has anyone been lucky enough to compare these two sets side-by-side (with the same setup)? What was your opinion?
