i saw this in my local Dixons and i was running a Britney Spears dvd and she did look extra lovely  In that review link posted above it states that this set is not HD compatible, but i'm sure that the LG website says that it is HDCP compliant(i'll see if i can find it again)

yep i was right, according to www.lge.co.uk the DVi socket is HDCP compliant. Looks as though What Video and Widescreen TV know less than the average Dixons employee

What the speed of it? the relisys for around the same price is @18Mhz and no confusion on whether its HD compatible. Its also got very favourable reviews on the forum (and its what I'm leaning towards getting right now)

It does seem like a fair deal that currys are doing though.

Can anyone shed some more light on this set? I'm poised to go out and buy one but I want it to be able to do HDTV when it comes along. If anyone could post some info on HDTV in general as well for someone who doesnt understand all the acronyms then that would be much appreciated.

Am I right in thinking this panel doesnt support Progressive scan?
    Therefore isnt HiDef compatible?
    Food for thought.

looks like the LG is out of stock in dixons empire. I want to spend the money but where to go to buy?? I'd rather buy one from a shop where they have it stock and also I want somebody to do the wall bracket. if you think "he's going to go to comet / dixons / currys (tesco?) tomorrow and buys something probably isn't that good", you are right. I do fancy the hitachi 7200/6200, but out of stock as I find from many shops. anyone offers me a new hitachi, please do so before tomorrow pm! :D:clap: :lease: or I shall join the rest of the select population and buys off tesco. :lesson:

    :hiya: thanks!

I went in to Currys and bought one yesterday, The guy who sold me one checked the stock and there were only 4 left, he said 3 weeks ago they had 10,000.
Only took 2 hours to buy one with their Sh1tty new computer system. ahhh progress.

No one seems to have taken any notice of my post.
  THIS DISPLAY DOESNT SUPPORT PROGRESSIVE SCAN!!!
Maybe this doesnt bother you, but when there are other displays at this price range that do support it, would seem daft to go for this one.
With Hidef around the corner and various discs around already would seem a great shame to miss out.

I'm thinking of buying this set but two websites I've found comet and Discount Audio Vision state that it has progressive scan. How can I find out for sure whether it does or not?

To be HiDef compliant a set requires certain criteria, of which Prog scan is one, although 1080i is Hidef and interlaced, but trust me this set certainly isnt 1080i compatable. Look for sets that can display 720p, 720 means a resolution of 1280x720 and the P is for progressive. If in any doubt read the reviews on this very website:
    http://www.homecinemachoice.com/cgi-bin/displayreview.php?reviewid=5725
    Hope this helps.

well, I want my tv! :)

at the end I managed to order the LG RZ32 at comet, and delivery is Wednesday this week. I think that's not too bad. my good lady was with me and together we (well, she) pulled off a deal of three-year warranty of £239 and a "discount price" of £929 on the LG. In persuading us to get the warranty, the manager also took out the delivery cost (about £20). I wonder if anyone managed to not get the "extended" warranty. well, anyway, I won't be rushing to change the tv in few years, unless it breaks within the warranty period! I wanted to go in a shop an buy because I wanted the bracket and to make sure that somebody comes to install it. but when you think about it, altogether the wall bracket is half the price of the tv. If I worked out the sum in my head earlier, I could have just placed an order online, bypassing the sales rep tactic. anyway, less than 48 hrs to go... -> maybe ?

I've been loking into this and from what I can work out, it has got progressive scan on the DVI signal but not on the analouge (component) input.

Read the reviews in this thread and as this does actually seem to be HDCP compliant sounds like a good buy. (Currys on line are selling at £869.78 and Egg are offering 17.5% cash back if you purchase online on Bank Hol Monday = £717.57 !). A few questions to anyone in the know though:-

    1) Does anyone know the response time of the panel?

    2) Has anyone managed to get 1:1 pixel mapping at full res (1366 x 768 ) via DVI?

    3) Is it easily wall mountable - can the supplied stand be removed, does it need a special wall mount or will a vesa wall mount do?

Any other info re picture quality, experience with this set appreciated!

    Don't know the answers to 1 & 2

It can be easily wall mounted , you need a 200 X 100 Vesa mount for it. Maplin do one for £39.99
The base stand can be removed for wall mounting.
