LG pq6000,V+ box doesn't show automatically?

With my old tv the Virgin V+ box was connected to the TV with a scart cable,so when you switched on the V+ box it showed on the TV.Now i have this new plasma and i have the V+ connected to the TV via an HDMI cable.I was expecting the V+ box to show up on the tv when i switch it on but it doesn't?I have to bring up the input lable screen and shift it along to the HDMI1 input i have the V+ connected to,is this the only way to do it?
