Looking to buy 42" plasma. Got 2000euros.
Best options appear to be LG 42PX11 or Hitachi 42PD4200.
Which is best? I know res is only WVGA and therefore doesn't provide native support for HDTV, but both had YUV and DVI for HDTV support.
Has anyone tested HD on either of these screens?
Would probably go for the LG if it wasn't for those damned fixed speakers.

Or should I go for a 32" LCD????
    Thanks.

I'd say go for the Hitachi, can't answer your other parts of the question, but when I bought mine, the Hitachi was far superior to the LG.

but your set is a 5200 not the 4200 that the OP was asking about. They are 2 different panels, yours is an ALIS panel, the 4200 is just 853*483 (ish). I had a 4200 from RS,pile of shi*e. Went straight back when I realised it was not HDTV compatible (DVI port is NOT HDCP) and no HDMI interface.

Have a Pio435FDE now, much, much better screen, Ok its only the FDE but at the moment have no need for the PC input/freeview etc and couldnt justify the extra to get the XDE. Same screen though

I have had my Hitachi 42pd5200 and still very pleased with it! Looks gorgeouos design wise and PQ is fantastic especially on DVD on component. Haven't tried DVI yet but have been told by many people that I will see a further improvement. Still scouting for a HDMI/DVI DVD player.
