Had one of LG's 65" oled tv's since 2015 and it's been faultless, been thinking of upgrading to one of LG's LG OLED77C8 77".
Any one have one and could you say they are good?

What has the LG OLED 77W8PLA got over the C8 at more than double the price? seems a lot of dosh.

Having seen the 77 C8 in person, it’s very impressive.

The C8, E8, G8 and W8 have no difference in processing power of picture quality at all, the only differences being design and sound quality.

The 77 C8 pumps out 40W of sound with a 2.2 speaker system, the W8 pumps out 60W with a 4.2 system, from the speaker bar. The W8 also gets the sexy rising speakers that come from the speaker bar, where all the cables go into.

Put simply, is the W8 worth £15k, while the 77C8 is worth £7k? No. Not at all. But, if you like the design and aesthetic, go for it.

    I have a 77C8, it's pretty damned great.

I'd love the aesthetic and bragging rights of the W8, but it's so much more expensive and I'm not a Richy Rich.

Is a 77” oled worth the price for an everyday tv? Or is it more a movies only, dedicated home theatre type of thing?
Would love an oled but worried that it would be burnt out within a year lol.

If you can fit it, you really wouldn’t be disappointed in it. Obviously to make normal tv look goood, you’d need to be sat far enough away.

It really is a non issue. If it were, they’d be class actions left right and centre, and they wouldn’t be sold. Just take care of the tv and don’t misuse it?
If it really worries you, most retailers offer accidental damage insurance. JL for example offer added care - £120 for 5 years coverage is a bargain, and would cover burn in should it happen.

Mine is in the lounge, it's the main TV.

I run it with OLED Light set to 100 for my calibrated day setting (35 at night so I don't blind myself!), and have absolutely no doubt it'll be fine; I've run all of my OLEDs the same way and never had an issue.

Ah okay that’s good news. Not sure I could justify a 77 so was more a general question. I’m relatively protective over my equipment but that doesnt stop the misses pausing something on sky and wondering off, getting sidetracked by our 9 month baby girl and 3 hours later the tv is still paused

Ooh well in that case no, OLED may not be for you as that would be asking for image retention. You may be lucky and not get any (I've been cavalier with mine) but it's a big investment to risk having the CBeebies logo burned in on!

That was my fear. I exaggerate about the duration but you get the point. I got a 55 Sony last year but didn’t do my home work. Turned out to be edge lit which has taught me the meaning of crushed blacks. Maybe a smaller oled for now that won’t lead to divorce :D

Oh she makes me pay in other ways. Recently bought a new front stage of KEF Rs. She didn’t get mad at all but apparently we “needed” an new push chair for the little one. Did you know they cost 700 pounds? I bloody well didn’t. She was the epitome of smug...

Thanks for the replies guys, all noted.
Iv'e done the usual search for sellers and they are all the same pricewise = £6999 + 5 years warranty with richersounds 6 year warranty, are they all in a cartel, i did find one who could offer a better deal over the phone (yet to try) so anyone found better prices?

The LG screensaver kicks in pretty quickly so that might not be a problem.

So after searching for the best price on the LG OLED77C8 77" i found one with 5 year warranty for a price i couldn't refuse, it was out of stock but the supplier said 10 working days brand new sealed box.

In the meantime could any of you experianced guys reccomend some initial settings for when it lands please.

My LG 65" 65EF950V 3D 4K 2160p UHD HDR will be up for sale shortly after (going to miss the 3D)

    ;)

Well if you or anyone else are in the market for one give Crampton & Moore a call, as i found out they will negotiate..... I was happy.
Not saying any other supplier will not discount, you will have to research as i found out.
When you search online they all give the same price which i think is crazy.

Still would like some initial settings, not after your calibration numbers.

    :)

So my LG OLED77C8 is being delivered tomorrow :)

Would be grateful if anyone can advise on what to switch off/on/adjust in the settings for initial setup, i'm not one to go looking for trouble with slides etc but just want a good starting point.

    Thanks.
