      All

Thought I'd get this started. My 65 E7 arrived this morning. Allegedly I have one of the 1st in the country!

Will unbox and try it out tonight before it goes back into its box for a week as we are moving house.

A teaser pic will have to do for just now though.

      Cheers

I work for a company who work very closely with LG, so bought it direct from them.

Typically don't but I'm guessing there's going to be a big appetite for it just now.

How much time I have though is another thing...

Well it will be a good indicator to see if they have tried to address any of the uniformity issues on the 65s like vignetting.
Where did you purchase it from ?

Congrats! As others have said, if at all possible, it would be good to check uniformity. There is definitely a question right now whether there has been any improvement from 2016 to 2017.

Well as he's putting it back in the box for storage, he's doing himself a favour by looking at the uniformity now, and if it's bad he can ship it back to LG right away:thumbsup:

Any instructions on how I load the slides on to a USB stick? I'll do what I can to test them tonight.

I don't. I'm a complete amateur who's had the luxury of no mortgage for a year, hence the indulgence.

You can also download the slides from here and put them on usb

      Download the zip file here:

      MP4-2c.7z

Then, seek out the following directory:

      MP4-2c\ColorHCFR Fields\5% Grayscale

If you dare to check under 5% (do it at your own risk), you'll find them here:

      MP4-2c\ColorHCFR Fields\Near Black

Nice chap splashes his cash on a new TV and the first thing everyone asks him to do is to go hunting for faults in it !!!

May I recommend that instead he turns it on watches a nice blend of his favorite films and and determines if he's happy!

This attitude of going looking for banding by viewing greyscale slides is frankly disgusting.

By looking at slides that are not representative of Normal viewing? So your not twisting his arm, but you're not exactly doing him any favors are you?

Why not let him just watch it and see if he's happy?

Got it on good authority that the delivery van doesn't leave until you've run the slides :D:rotfl:

Depends on what content you're watching. I've been watching alot of war stuff lately and those can be quite tough tests with dark scenes with smoke, fog etc. It can be good to see if there's any flaws before the returning period is over i've seen people that have been disappointed by what they've seen months later watching Arrival. Don't breathe is also a movie where flaws can be seen.

It's his choice obviously but dont understand why some get so upset by this.

Had it out the box briefly, fired it up, connected Sky Q etc and it looked good.

Tried the iplayer UHD demo and it's mind blowing. Shut the blinds, turned off the lights and at times it felt as if it was 3D.

To previous OLED owners it may be old hat, but to me it was unparalleled. Never seen anything like it. The detail is just phomenal and the brightness was pleasantly suprising given some of the comments I'd read on her about them being quite dim.

Used the built in Netflix and Amazon apps which worked seamlessly and the Mrs watched an episode of "Orange Is The New Black". I was genuinely surprised at how good the PQ was for a streamed service.

I tried to thoroughly check the picture on varying content to see if I could see any banding or irregularities, but I saw nothing at all that concerned me.

Far from a the detailed reviews you are used to and I'm sorry to disappoint on the slides for the time being, but the true test for me will be when I wall mount it and use it properly. Once its up on the wall, I'll happily run slides for those interested, but I don't have the space or the time this evening.

For now, its packaged back up and into storage until next Monday. All things considered I'm a very happy man!
