LG OLED 2017 Discussion (B7, C7, E7, G7 & W7)

I hope the B7 65 inch is $3500 CDN next blackfriday/boxing day and has low input lag.

It's out of glass.

That's sounds a little more tricky, but sometimes the feet can be screwed off and with a lot of luck the screw dimension is exactly the same as single screw wheels:

If you just want to try it out, this might be sufficient to be placed beneath the stand itself, but probably nothing that would work in the long run:

Yeah, I would need to saw off the 4 feet since I don't want the TV sitting too high.
Anyways, thanks for the suggestions.

Well I just hope that LG manages to eliminate the usual problems associated with OLED, i.e. near black level, dancing pixels and bandings, rather than offering us ultra slim sets.

I doubt if LG can deliver that as well as delivering a 1000 nits for HDR.

Agreed that the E6 seems to have had it's fair share of problems, although thankfully the G6's in Europe seem to have generally been problem free. Given that the G6 can achieve 730 nits I'm guessing that the G7 will be pretty close to 1000 nits, if not higher.

Personally I'm hopping that the G7 will look very similar to the G6 so that SWMBO won't notice the swap :)

How are you finding HDR on the G6 - Plenty bright enough, or not? Just wondering why you may swap to a G7. :)

Don't get me wrong as an owner of a band free G6 I am extremely happy with it and yes it's plenty bright in HDR. With regards to swapping for a G7, it will depend upon what the G7 brings to the table, HDR gaming mode, HLG, HFR, improved motion handling etc. etc.

I personally love my E6 but I may change to a 2017 set depending purely on what upgrades there is. Id seriously love a 77 inch but id imagine the prices will be crazy on those lol.

if a 65 W7 is actually a wallpaper set with 1000+nits and other good new features I maybe tempted.

I just want a uniform screen, 3D and 700+ nits

Since the 2016 sets are already hitting 600-700 nits and clipping... I feel that I would only be happy with 1000+ which you would expect anyway on a 2017 model as it should be a substantial upgrade and would help with the content that is done at 1000 nits.

The 'W' range. What is the consensus on this? Do we think that this will be a home product sold in places like Currys. Or a specialist business only sort of thing.

It will be a home product for sure. There already is a business range call the Signage range that are available this month. I'm guessing the W range is going to be a step up from the G range or the same as the G range but a Wallpaper TV.

LOL

You trying to scorch your retina's?

Not sure I understand that comment lol. A lot of HDR content is mastered at 1000 nits... so surely you would want your screen to be able to display that properly without clipping. Considering the 2016 clip highlights.... then 1000 nit Oled's can only be a good thing.

1000 nits would be great but that is a very big jump from the existing 600 to 700 nits. I will be really impressed if LG can make OLEDs get that bright next year.

Buying the E6 makes me nervous at the moment.
There could be uniform issues however I am not sure I will be willing to splash 5k on E7 when I can just about justify myself to pay 3700 for e6! so im in a impossible situation.
Sure 2017 will be brighter which is good for HDR but what other improvements worth having will there be!

1000 nits is very tempting but I'm so pleased with my C6 that I think I can finally stick with a TV for at least a couple of years. As HDR content becomes more common I've no doubt I'll be craving those extra nits and colour gamut.

I literally have nothing to complain about with the C6 though which is a first for me! Normally there's something bugging me that eventually pushes me to upgrade (e.g. banding and lag on the ef950, dfc on the vt65).

Very intrigued on the 2017 improvements though, they're going to be mind blowing given they're improving on already phenomenal TVs.
