Just seen this over at HotUKDeals. Play.com are selling the upcoming LG M228WA for £199.99, RRP £349.99

    Screen Size: 22"
    Native Resolution: 1680x1050
    Pixel Pitch: 0.282mm
    Viewing Angle: 170/170 Degrees
    Response Time: 5ms (GTG)
    Brightness: 300cd/m2
    Contrast Ratio: 3000:1 (Dynamic)
    Connections: DVI, VGA, Component, S-Video
    Built in TV Tuner

Looks mightily impressive to me, especially at £200! Thoughts?

I would also appreciate some feedback for this monitor. In particular if it is HD capable and if it would be worthwhile to use as a television.

Its definitely HD capable, screen resolution is 1680x1050 and it has a DVI slot that supports HDCP

As for the TV part, only time will tell. Its not released until next week :thumbsdow

Im debating ordering anyway, if it turns out rubbish for the 360, Sky and Media Center then it will make a nice 22" PC monitor

Am looking at the same screen, I'll only really watch TV via the RF2 and the occasional DVD via Component anyhow so it looks a good punt for £200. I mainly want it as a PC screen, so the TV functionality is a bonus!

Currently using a 15" Pure flat Toshiba which since I dropped it has some weird colours going on, which I've got used to so its got to be better than that :rotfl:

Yeh I'm interested in this too, would like a TV in my bedroom and a new monitor, so two of these would be nice.
Thing is, I can't determine whether it has an RF socket - it doesn't seem to, only the 19"/17" models list RF on the LG specs page.
LG also lists HDMI alongside the monitor on one of their pages, but it clearly doesn't have it.

I'm trying to get hold of LG PR to get hold of a model - no luck yet. (I write for www.theinquirer.net)

This telly does have a RF socket - I had to check on the German LG site to confirm this. Ordered one from Play - due to arrive at beginning of May.

It has component, scart, S-Video AND composite connections, meaning it could be used for SD gaming consoles without any XGA box needed. Veeeeery interesting.

£199.99 seems WAY too cheap for a 22" monitor with the amount of connection options it has, there has to be a catch somewhere...

    - Yeah, all the connections point straight out of the back and not down.

I have punted £200 on a pre order for one of these as a computer screen - lets hope they are good, as there are still no reviews anywhere.

This seems too good to be true, at least in the eyes of a pessimistic sod like me anyway. :D

It isn't a good sign when there's no pre-release reviews on the net, it usually means the manufacturer want to avoid what they expect to be bad publicity. I'll wait to hear what others have to say before ordering.

I'd imagine sending something like this back to Jeresy would be troublesome, unless of course they allow returns to somewhere more local. Never had to return anything ordered from Play before.

Ive decided to hold off myself; im not sure 22" is big enough and not sure if this monitor will be any good. If some people give this the thumbs up then i'll consider it but for now im going to continue saving for a 26" or 32" LCD TV

22" is big enough, you'd be surprised how big a 19" monitor can look.

I'm in the same boat though; not sure if I should risk wasting £200 or put it towards a 32" HDTV.

Looks good, but i'm after one with a digital tuner and this only has an analogue one. There seems to a big price difference between analogue and digital tuner TV's :(

I suppose does look like an RF above the S-Video there.
Still, wish the LG site was more explicit, and I've yet to hear back to them.

Also, no HDMI isn't a problem as it supports HDCP, you can just use a HDMI to DVI cable I suppose.

I've bought one for myself anyway, so I'll stick a review up on the INQ as soon as I get hold of it.

Well LG's press company finally got back to me about sending out a unit when they have one in stock.
I imagine I'll get mine from Play first...

I've just took the plunge and ordered one from Play too. Going the specs it should be an awesome monitor however it does worry me as to why it's been reduced by so much. Komplett had the 19" model for £219 and the 20" for £259.01. Though they don't offer this one? Will wait and see.

    Here we go again guys!!

Play.com have put the release date back to the 7/5/07 now, just like they kept doing with the Samsung 226bw.

I ordered the 226bw about 2 months ago from Play.com but their constant delays & price hiking meant I couldnt wait any longer so I went out & bought a 205bw. I dont know what the 206bw is like but I didnt really like & didnt see any difference between it & my 17" LG monitor from 2 1/2 yrs ago apart from the fact that it was 20" & widescreen, so I sold it in order to get this LG M228WA, which has ALSO been delayed!!.

I must be cursed or summat!!

i have just rung up play, and they said it is most defintly going to be released on 7th may, they also said that if you pre order it now, and the price unfortuantly goes up, you will be safe and will pay £200.

Nice one cheers! Lets hope Play keep their word.

I've never had the pleasure of buying from Play before, what's their returns policy and aftersales like? I'm a little cynical as to why this is so cheap!!

June? I knew this was gonna happen.
    Basts!!

BTW when they say that they'll honour the cheaper price they have a rather sneaky way around that by telling u that your account details/card used dont work (just after they hike the price up!), so u have to re-order @ the higher price.

Thats what they did with me.

I ordered both the 226bw and this LG, both were delayed with crazy dates so i said sod it and went for a dell 24" even though I really shouldnt have spent so much. Wouldnt surprise me if the LG is delayed even further once that date is reached!

yeah tell me about it mate!! They did this about a month ago, then dropped the price back to £199.

I just checked my Play.com account & my pre-order still showing as £199 for me & they havent rejected the payment I made by saying my account details/card havent been accepted..........................yet!!

If I find a similar deal somewhere else which has an LCD TV with a VGA & DVI connection for a good price I'll be cancelling as this is just taking the p**s now.

the only prblem is, is that i cannot find a monitor with the exact same spec as this beatiful bst LG, that keeps on getting delayed.

if anyone can find one, with the same spec, can someone please post it on this thread, as i am getting desperate, as my hdmi-dvi lead arrived today in the morning.

    chhers!!
