    Hello,

Ive just purchased a LG HR600 PVR but cant find any info on whether you can change the recording quality or not ?

Can anyone tell me if this is possible please ?

I would want to do this so that any recordings I make dont take up as much space on the HDD.

Previous reviews seem to suggest that you can select between HD and SD recording but is this just a case of which type of channel you select to record from ?

    Many thanks.

    Hi

On PVRs there is no option to change the recorded quality. This is because they just take the digital Freeview data and record it as is. This means when you play it back, the recording quality is identical to watching it live, which is good.

The Freeview data is already poor quality and very compressed, so you will get about the maximum recording time you can with just about the worse picture quality they can get away with on Freeview. You really wouldn't want to make it any worse to get extra time anyway, our bad quality Freeview system has already done that for you.

    Regards

    Phil

    Hi.
The old DigiFusion boxes could recompress (overnight) recordings. The kindest thing to say about the results is they were terrible... But the harddrives were much smaller back then.
