I just bought this DVD rcorder and having got some decent TDK DVD-RW blanks the picture quality is flawless. However there are some undocumented features for recording which are not explained in the manual. It records in "video" mode only if recording is started manually. The DVDs from this mode are compatible with some standard DVD players eg Philips 634, Schneider DVD857, PowerDVD. But it refuses to record in video mode on timer recording. It will record in "video recorder" (VR) mode on timer or manual but this mode's DVDs cannot be played on stand alone DVD players or a PC. The manual doesn't explain this arkward combination at all. What am I doing wrong (if anything). Is it just a bad manual.
